Help Identifying/Verifying Inherited Watch

Hi folks,

First time poster here. I inherited a watch some time ago and have always wanted to get more information about it. Between the lugs at 12:00 is "6426" and the serial number at 6:00 is in the 452900's, although it's pretty scratched up. The caseback has an inscription dating the watch as a gift in 1960.

My issue is that this doesn't look like any other Rolex Oyster I can find online. The font and size of the text on the dial both seem totally out of sync with what seems to be customary to ~1960 or the mid-1940's, when that reference number would've been issued. There is nothing stating it is a Precision or Perpetual.

The watch is invaluable to me as a family heirloom, so I suppose it doesn't really matter what comes of this, but it would be nice to understand a little bit more as to why this watch seems so unusual in contrast to what I see online with other 6426 models. Any help or suggestions (or affirmation, or skepticism, even!) would be appreciated.

Enjoy as is, or pick up an original dials that hasn't been refinished. Win, win!
