Librarian!

Was at the library, checked out a bunch of books-stocks, martial arts, health books, the guy checking me out had a nice silver bracelet and on the left, could've sworn was a Sub. But I thought I saw the Omega logo, so I asked is that an Omega? He said no, Rolex. I said nice Sub! 'I have one too, showed him my Pres, his eyes widened a lil when he saw the bezel, 'is that real'? I said yes, he said, there's no way I could afford that. I asked how old, where he got it, he said Madison and 50 something...I assumed that's one of the T's or Wempe, but he said it was a jewelry store, he said he paid full price 6 yrs ago.

Kinda pointless thread, but I never thought I'd see a librarian wearing a Rolex. Not to demean them by insinuating they are low paid, just the general 'stereotype' is that they are quiet, low key, unmaterialistic. That's at least my impression.

My wife is a librarian and she wore my Sub to work the other day. And that's not a bad likeness of her! By the way, to the OP, the person checking out your books probably wasn't a librarian, he was probably a clerk.

I can't even see the librarian....must be a photo from an i-phone or something.....every so often all I get are small boxes with red crosses in them.....very frustrating

Someone once posted here that if you're "only" a middle class office worker you should not wear rolex at work. He likes pacman too, you might be from the same world. Some people just need to go back down to earth.

Hey...you never know someone's circumstances. A librarian could be a trust fund baby...maybe he saved his money, got the watch as a gift, or whatever.

I noticed that my mechanic was wearing an SS DJ and come to find out he won it in a contest by Federal Mogul to see who could sell the most ball joints.

Anyone with a steady job could afford a Rolex Sub, if they really wanted one. Ok it might take a few sacrifices and a bit of time to save, but it would be doable. It all depends where your priorities are. Do you want a Rolex or a new car? Maybe your kids education is more important to you than owning a fine watch. Its all about choices that we all have to make.

You got that right! Private school for my 2 kids runs me more than a Platinum Day-Date every year! Not to mention what we're putting away to cover college and grad school. But their education and future success are my priority. My Sea-Dweller is fine for now, but I'll get a Platinum DD w/ meteorite dial in about 15 years!
It will still look great on my wrinkled and age spotted wrist.

True , I couldn't see our parents buy a Rolex on credit . I know of a young waiter around here that has taken out a personal loan at 22%APR to buy a TT SUB . I believe he will have paid nearly twice for the watch by the time he's finished

I'd never finance a watch but if I did I wouldn't do it at 22%.

I wouldn't finance a new liver at 22%.

I'm a mechanic. I restore vintage British motorcycles. I wear my SS Sub every day to work. I weld, grind, and paint with it on. No one has ever asked me if it's real or not. It still looks great, and goes diving on vacation a few times a year. I bought it because it's tough as nails and has a cool factor that no other watch has. Steve McQueen, James Bond, Jaques Cousteau.....etc.

I'm a retired Navy Chief and I teach English as a second language and I wear my Sub every day! I'm certain everyone thinks it's a fake, then of course no one believes my house is paid off either. It just goes to show you, don't judge people by their jobs, or better yet, don't judge people.

Amen, fellow Jefe. Some people are so narrow-minded to think they are superior to others just because they're wearing a Rolex.
