"How to tell a cheap watch from a Rolex"

I saw this in one of our biggest circulation newspapers.

I suppose the average punter is NOT a WIS so this is about as knowledgeable as it gets...

As John Cleese would have said, "In a nutshell."

Probably not politically correct, but has become a common term on most watch forums, not just this one.

I suppose it explains in a nutshell the obsessive nature of watch aficionada's.

There is knowledge here that only the most compulsive would notice... eg. did you know that on most (modern) Rolex's, the circular balance weight of the seconds hand lines up EXACTLY over the "O" in the word Rolex on the dial as it sweeps around???

I have not checked this on every model (as unfortunately I do not yet own every model) but on the handfull I have observed, this seems to hold true.
Is this just a coincidence? I think not...

Ummm, well, if you look carefully, you will notice the circular (lumed) part of the seconds hand lines up EXACTLY with the TIP of the inverted marker at 12 o'clock.

I am very confident that these alignment and symmetrical instances are not coincidences, but are well thought out and designed details.

That is the case for my ladies' size Yachtmaster, and for my husband's Sub.

If true, than I can check off the box that I learned something new today!
