Trying to ID my Dad's Elgin
Been searching for vintage Elgin's etal ..and trying for kicks to ID this watch....
This was my Dad's watch, which I received from my Mom, when Dad passed on. A classic in its own right... Dont you agree! |

I looked in my book and I couldn’t come up with a model with a name. Most Elgin’s I believe didn't have names. I can tell you that your watch is most likely from early 50s. The little symbol on the dial below the word Elgin is a d.p. It stands for Dura-power which is the name Elgin gave to their new unbreakable main-springs. The movement is most likely a 17 jewel. The watch is in very nice shape. Is the dial original or has it been refinished? I hope this helps some.

Thanks for the info..and for the comment.
It is in pretty fine shape... Yes.. all is original xcept for the strap. That's been changed a couple of times over the last 50+ years...! |
