Has Rolex ever made a case / bracelet style such as the one shown in the photo? I'm not familiar with that style...

There are indeed many PM's being exchanged on that subject . I hope the MOD's listen in on those . I believe this section is beating the objet if not counterproductive in its current configuration .

Problem is .................. This section does serve it's purpose. Simply the amount of fungus we take off eBay on our free time is worth it.

Yes , absolutely . Don't get me wrong . No way we should stop " weeding " Ebay CL and all the others . I only think we should stop publicizing our findings and justifications . It's that info the "bad guys " are after .

You have a point however how are we going to learn the issues with a fake Rolex if we do not have any imput?

Only "security cleared" members can access ? I know it sounds bad and maybe impossible to implement . But it's a bit like millions of ordinary people like you and me have to strip down naked each time they want to take a plane because 2 or 3 maniacs carry Semtex around their goullies .

There is no way to stop. If we do, that leaves a hole open for the scammers on eBay.

this may raffle some feathers, learning these watches is more then posting
that "something looks funny" or "it doesn't look right". it is (from my experience)
listening, watching, reading and touching. right here on this forum, there are
guys out there lets say Orchi, he has a blog with extremely intense dial information
if there is variation, he has found it. tudorman, the band man. motomc1 and steve
mulholland or springer(just a few examples) each on the these guys i have picked something up to step-up my game. buying books, like the best of time by james dowling and jeff hess or the book on vintage rolex sports models by martin skeet and nick urul. or the R series of rolex parts books. the vintage rolex brochures. or better yet, go to a nawcc watch show and just listen and hang out. but the best way is learning from my mistakes. you will get bit once in a while. i'm sure i can say this. anyone here that has owned 100 rolex's have been bit a few times. by the way i just bought a book on cartier tanks and patek

this is how i learned it.

quick story, motomc1 said to me one time, you take to long on I.D.'ing a 7928
just look at the position of the 7 to the 928

given a select few the " security cleared " access. hmmmm.

remember, when we post, there are 1000's out there that take these commits
as 100% correct. just by posting a watch on this site can and will stain the
watch on the net and destroy a sellers word.

posting a watch here, "just because" can and will be seen as a negative

i have had members of TRF call me, asking me my feeling on a watch that there
bidding. that is posted right here on the watch-out section, there was nothing wrong. but it was posted here???? why??

That is maybe another reason it should be conducted in a closed environment and only after a panel of " experts " have agreed that it is indeed a "subject of serious concern " I should be made available to the general public . This will avoid "abuse" too . It is all to easy for one seller to eliminate competition simply by posting that watch and create doubts with potential buyers . Like Blaine just mentioned .
Then , should we also make public why the experts decided it was indeed " of concern" that's another question . By posting it we give "feedback" to the frauds and they will learn from their mistakes , but it will also keep the average WIS from learning as that would have been the initial purpose of the section .
How can we determine if this section is more useful to the frauds or to the average punter ?
I have no answer to that , but I hope by putting these questions out that maybe someone can come up with the most balanced out solution .
If there is no solution , there is no problem .

My only comment is that this "watch-out" section jump-started and propagated my interest in Rolex watches. Back in July, I timidly posted an ebay auction on a watch that I had purchased and was amazed at the welcome and the wealth of knowledge that the members here displayed and freely offered. Since, I have seen the numerous one time posters who come and go. But I also have seen a few test the waters and settle in and learn - eventually offering their own personal insight. Since I have joined, I have purchased some of the authoritative books mentioned above and really created a fun hobby and collection for myself. I would hate to see new folks like myself shut out from this portion of the site. I think that we do a great service and save many many people from getting caught in a bad deal. Just my 2-cents!!

That is what we should achieve : Maintain this service in order to provide guidance to the genuine buyer swimming in the Ebay ocean , without providing info to the sharks around him.
Q: How

remember this about fakers (makers). they know as much about a real rolex
as anyone. they just don't care on the fit and finish. i would think that
they have a built-in, acceptable loss ratio. i have seen bags of fake rolex's , BAGS!
they tell you what they are, no hiding. problem lays when they sell them and the next person starts believing that they can pass them off as real. the greed
kicks in. also i have met fakers (makers) that, do it for a game. how good can i
make it. no different then a computer hacker, i gifted person thats seeks a
challenge.
you can't stop them as a whole. you can only offer assistance to ones that
are looking. and there lays the stem of the problem, we are always looking
for the bargain (a form of greed) trying to catch a deal. i lost my job and
need to sell my rolex. (blood in the water) or my grandfather left me this rolex
i don't know what it's worth. ( i do and i am not gonna them him, hmmm) seldom does a real bargain on rolex pop-up.

something to share. i have talked with the man, as it was told to me that makes the red letter sub dials. he is, as told to me a stong collector of the
ultra rare rolex's

so lets keep posting those no good fake rolex's........ONLY

this might/might not off the subject. i posted this here to share were this
maybe going. the don't tell post, i'm sure almost all of them (faker markers)already know

never look down on your opponent, they'll beat you if you do
again, again and again

Otoh, it is some of the newest members that are saved by Watch Out. Keeping them from posting would defeat the purpose.
