Rolex 2 year warranty

I was just curious, what the Rolex 2 year warranty actually cover??

I just bought a named and dated Rolex that still has about 1 year left on the warranty, would that be transferrable to my name or will I be able to bring to an AD to service??

Thanks,

In the US, the warranty is not transferrable so there is no way to "get it in your name"..

But If it's gone a year without issues, it is unlikely to break down (manufacturing defect) during the next year..

Anybody can take a Rolex into an AD at any time for a service call if they choose to pay for it..

Tools is wrong, the warranty is good even in the US. I sent my GMT Master II to RSC in Dallas and I am the second owner. They regulated and buffed it all nice any pretty for free. It was bought by the original owner in August of 09 but was a 2004 model. they said i was covered till Aug. 11

So let me get this right. The warranty basically covers only any manufacturing defects??

Well...... yes...that's pretty much what any warranty does.. Of course, if it breaks or fails during those years, it is assumed it is because of a manufacturing defect.. It won't cover breaking the crystal, scratching the case or self inflicted damage.......

I was the second owner of a SS Daytona and had warranty work done with no problems or questions asked at the NY RSC a few years ago.

So which is it????

The warranty is transferable or not????

I was under the impression the warranty WAS NOT transferable!!!

The fact that they worked on your watches may possibly be a goodwill gesture.

It may not prove that the warranty IS transferable.

Anyone with easy access to their paperwork should be able to clarify.

The answer is yes to both. RUSA is a much different animal. Many have had work done on second owner pieces with no problem, but there is always the chance RUSA will not honor a second owner as to warranty work.

RUSA,

RUSA,

So when people advertise their nearly new Rolex for sale and state it comes with the remaining balance of the 2 year Rolex warranty......this is not factually correct!!!!!!

I think there must be a fair amount of "AD discretion" about 2nd owners and warranty work. I have one AD who I have made several purchase from and they verified they would have no problem doing "2nd owner" warranty work for me. But, another AD that I only casually know said "no way."

I also have been second owner of watch and have had no issue with warranty as it was within the 24 months--took to AD and was fine.
PS--Warranty cert had no name on it though.

Well can only speak for the UK I once bought a used Rolex in Gibraltar that was only 6 months old and not registered in my name. The minute hand and second hand came off and there was some timing issues. But all fixed in London RSC while I waited just showed them my papers no questions asked.

i think a lot is down to the individual AD
if they are sticklers for the rules then it will cost
but
if they are decent AD's then it will be easier
i have taken 3 Rolex's into my AD for warranty work and 2 were not mine but my AD did not question who they belonged to they just sent them into Bexley for repair and i was not charged
