Trade a 14060 for a Zenith Deluca?

Opinions please on trading my 14060 A serial w/o B & P - 90% (a very nice Submariner) for a Zenith Deluca (El Primero movement) w/ B & P circa 1995?

The Deluca is Zenith's version of the Daytona. Same El Primero movement as a Daytona during a period of proiduction years.

I really like the Deluca, it's what a Daytona should be in my opinion. (flame suit on). I would make the trade in a heartbeat. Plenty of 14060's around if you decide to replace it in the future.

Zenith Deluca??? What the Hell is that?? Sounds like those old Zenith TVs from the 80s, with those humongous woodwork around them ....YUCK!!! I suggest you crush your 14060 in a vice or put it on railroad tracks so a train flattens it out.... that would be more acceptable than this trade you are thinking of.....

Does the Zenith make you happy ? GO for it

I think it's a crossover of all the Rolex sports models, the movement is superb though not the same as in the Daytona with seconds at 9

Rolex uses the mainplates of the movement and thats it, all other moving parts are made by Rolex.
The frequency of the balance is a little higher on the Zenith.

Service cost on the chrono are a little higher.

Thx Jack - so the entire El Primero movement is not housed in certian past Daytonas - just some or part of it???

It's something like an engine.

You've got the housing and all the eternal parts like pistons etc.

Rolex only used the housing > baseplates > ebauche in French.

All the moving parts like gears and springs came from Rolex.

Both Zenith Daytona and the Deluca have running seconds at nine. The new inhouse 4130 daytona changes that to the six

I am aware of that, but I made it clear to make the difference between the two different daytona movements.

Thought I'd revive this thread as I bought a NOS De Luca today - a Series 1 from 1988 without the surrounds on the (rectangular) hour markers. It's an absolute beauty

Yes, go for it. Deluca's are very highly prized by Zenith fans. To all of the thousands of Sub-owners on this site, sorry: at the risk of getting , Sub's are a dime a dozen by comparison. Not that they're a bad watch.

I like the dial, Movement, and the fact you will get the box and papers. Zeniths
fly under the radar. I like the Sub no date. But, having a Zenith is something special. You can always find another Sub no date New, or Used. As a Pilot the Crono., is very handy. I do not think you have anything to loose. Remember, this is the Rolex Forum. What do you think the postings would be on a Zenith watch Forum ? I rarely ever sell, or trade a watch myself. Some are missed. But, most are not missed.
I am on my second Omega 3570.50.00 Moon watch. Sold the first one to a friend. Missed it. So, one call to an Omega AD. And problem solved.

IMO it doesn't matter if the Zenith is rarer than the Rolex.

One is a Zenith and the other is a Rolex! And we are talking about a beauty here, no date Sub

There's hardly anything "beautiful" about a no date sub. Want a watch that says "I have no character and I bought this watch because people know it's expensive."? Buy a modern submariner. When looking at modern watches, there are so many companies that blow Rolex away for the same or less money. I don't know why everyone here thinks wearing a rolex turns them into a God or something, it's just a watch that 99.99% of the population WILL NEVER notice. I've been complimented on more $100-300 watches than I've ever been complimented on any of my Rolexes.

Plus Zenith is a great watch company whose work is undervalued in my opinion, they create wonderful movements and watches that are significantly less expensive than Rolex with the same or better quality. And more complications.
