It is time to revisit this issue. I still wonder, given the spastic like things we do in our sleep, if we stretch our bracelets (jubilee or oyster) during the process. Some say that the steel is so strong that no, you can sleep with the babies on and no problem. The Rolex tech told me that the worst culprit was not sleep, but wearing the bracelet too loose.

Since the Rolex watches are so heavy, the "head" of the process will act as a lever and stretch the rest of the "basis of resistance", ie the bracelet. I think he was talking about REALLY loose bracelets. He also told me that a snug but not tight bracelet keeps the watch better wound.

Anyway, I sleep with my watches quite often. Am I stretching them all to hell?

I think that given JJ's stature as a man of honor and a "huge" a personality and member of this list, he may be capable of stretching wives and watches. We need go no further into that comment except to say, JJ is a big guy. LOL

Well think your AD was talking though his rear end,but perhaps you would have to wear it extreemly loose indeed. Well my first SD, worked slept, dived, and was on my wrist for almost 10 years without a break.With just the occasional dip in fresh water to wash the salt off.With absolutely no sign of bracelet stretch whatsoever.Scratches yes but after a service was as good as new,but while diving in the Red Sea I lost it to the abyss.But it was insured and was replaced while in Singapore.Myself been around watches now well for over 30 years. And in all the watches I have ever owned never had any stretch in any Oyster bracelet or oyster type bracelet, just keep them clean they will last a life time.

And guys much too early to go off topic,as we have requested you all in previous threads.

Yeah, I know. These babies are steel. It may not be safe for someone thrashing around in bed with brass posts though....in ones sleep one could really crack the thing into the post and do damage. I seem to always leave mine on though.

Just take it off at night before you go to bed,then you will not have any problems,its that simple honest.

When getting the new Rolex,the bracelet is very stiff.I found after wearing the Blue TT Sub for a month it "loosened" up a bit and is more comfortable to wear.Now,it sits just right ...

I dont sleep with a watch on the wrist.

It's not the links that stretch, but the pins bend that hold the links together.

An authorized Rolex service center will do what they can, but sometimes they recommend replacing the bracelet.
