Travelling to Malaysia -which watch to wear?

I'm travelling to Malaysia for about 3 weeks on both business and pleasure, and was wondering what your opinion is regarding what watch to wear.

Normally I wear either my TT sub (black) or GMT iic but since getting the Panerai 005 feel more inclined to wear this.

So, what would you wear (disregarding the GMT function) the Sub, GMT or Panerai?

Whats your reasoning?

whichever you like.. Malaysia is a safe country for traveling... no need to worry.. for me I'd go GMT.

Been to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia several times on business/pleasure. A lot of beautiful places to see and people are friendly and easy going.

Remember, the weather is generally humid so choose your clothes well.
Take your Panerai.

I agree with the panerai. KL is only two hours behind Sydney, an easy calculation in the head...

As a caution in traveling to any country in that region I tend not to wear anything flashy. If you are being escorted and traveling with a company car then you should be ok. If you are wandering around on your own I would be careful. I tend to wear my Seiko in situations like this. If I do wear one of my Rolex I put it on a Nato strap. It goes completely unnoticed. I usually avoid wearing anything with gold.

If wearing your PAM I'd stay away from the gator straps - too hot and humid...

Malaysia is an safe place. For me the Pam is for shorts and tees when you are relaxing. Since both biz and pleasure, first choice would be GMT. Although Malaysia is very safe, the TT could attract unwanted attention. GMT would be my choice.

As always, depends on where and how you intend to travel, and the image you need to give. In KL central you'll be good wearing pretty much anything. If moving to less urbanized/wealthy areas, I'd keep every watch on your list out of sight. Income differences are wide and some might see expensive watch as an opportunity, even though Malaysian people are generally easy going. I'd also say, that people there are not so keen to judge you on your appearance (compared to some Asian countries).

Maybe my long backpacking background gives a slightly different image, but Asia is huge and homogeneous, and a quick visit to Hong Kong for example doesn't make you an expert. Be humble, polite and play it on the safer side. So GMT or Panerai, your choice :)

just wear what you feel comfortable, but do avoid travelling alone in 'dark' lane

if you drop by china town (in KL), enjoy those 'pretty good' rollies, grab some if you like to support Msia economy, you can get 'good' one for <u$100, if you need paper, a little bit more

Malaysia is a beautiful country and Kuala Lumpur is a shopper's paradise. The Megasale is still on.

You can wear almost anything you like on your wrist and you'll be just fine. Having said that, common sense still prevails. Avoid dark alleys that may compromise your safety and don't draw too much attention to your watch. If you go in a group, that would be fine.

I wish you a pleasant stay in KL!

(Oh and do consider Sarawak for something close to nature (forest) although trips to the islands in Peninsular Malaysia like Redang and Tioman would be great as well)

Malaysia is very safe but use common sense
PAM005 or GMT2C works but because you're traveling, I would lean towards the Rollie. Another benefit as a friend pointed out, if you are ever in a bind you can easily convert that to cash. Not so easy with a PAM

Love the PAM005, but I hate winding up watches myself! ;-) I would probably go with the GMT, but the Panny comes close.
