Advise on the explorer II

Hi,

Can anybody advise if Rolex plans next year to have a special edition on the explorer II or have mayor changes like in the Explorer or Sub C ?

IS still available a new explorer II with a black face, the Rolex official site does not promote this version.

I am planning to buy one soon for my 40th birthday.

I will appreciate any further recomendations on the Explorer II.

I heard that they are changing the hands next year to look more retro.

The Explorer II is a great choice and is still available in either White or Black Dial..

The Rolex Web Site is not their catalogue and they do not have all the available models or options on it..........Check out your local Dealer..

Rumor has it that they will release some changes to the Exp II next year. The Font (Explorer II) will be in orange, maxi hands, and a maxi dial.. The 24 hr hand resembles the larger early hand. I would also expect that it will get an updated bracelet and clasp..

just occurred to me looking at that photo-- is it possible that watch is maxi case, but with a wider bracelet too ?

I guess all the things are same, to figure out from the photo is bigger hands, 24 hours hand from red change to orange. No further info. can be provided about the bracelet, I also concern it.

That could be a very nice piece. I'd like to inspect it when it comes out.

The current Explorer II model is a magnificent timepiece. So comfortable, I forget I have it on. Looks great on the wrist for all occasions--work, play, sport, and rugged.
Don't really care for the "upgrades" because I think the Explorer II is perfect the way it is.

I recently "rewarded" myself to an Explorer II. Actually I picked it up yesterday! I love the white dial, all my other watches have a black dial so I wanted something different. It hasn't left my wrist since I picked it up!
I like it the way it is and I'd not be interested in the "upgraded" version. Besides It'll probably command full-price. i got my Z series for 20% off!

I think the explorer II with the "1655 styled" hand sounds more like a rumour from the internet. In spite of this photo which has been taken from Baselworld this year, Rolex never talked about a new Explorer II.

Well, sit back and relax. IF it is officially announced at Basel in March, you may get your mitts on one, ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh about this time in 2011!!!

I actually think the current red hand is cooler than an orange hand. I bet that if and when the new explorer 2 comes out with an orange hand, people will be looking for the red handed explorer years from now.

I heard say that the E2 already retail in Tokyo just now, and some Hong Kong ADs forcast, just forcast that it will not so fast land on Hong Kong before the end of 2010. Meanwwhile, I think that I prone to the current version, because I prefer the thin hands, especially the red 24 hour hand more than the fatty orange, but people loves new thing always, let see what happen in the market later. One thing, I bet the E2 will come out with much higher price.

It's a great watch indeed. I have a lot of fun with mine. It travels around on business trips - subtle, light and reliable

Still pondering whether to sell mine to grab the YachtMaster which i have regretfully sold... the other reason being the new Explorer II rumoured to be launched next year.

As others have mentioned, you can expect to pay significantly more for the new Explorer II next year. Other than maxi dial and case, the changes (based on the leaked pic) are the orange GMT hand and orange text on the dial. Well... the orange text and hand look like a potential hit to me though the price should be a dampener!
