Do they sell many of the small woman's watches anymore?

I was just wondering if many of the small womans watches are sold anymore. They seem to look very dated now (my opinion). Most younger woman are all wearing the larger watches. Would you buy your wife or girlfriend one of these or would you get her the larger one. Would she want one? Just curious on your opinions.

In my experience, they still sell very well. Haven't seen many women go for mid-size or full-size watches. The best selling lady's watch is still the TT Datejust on Jubilee, it's about as classic a lady's watch as you can get

Yep that is the one she was interested in.

My local AD said they can't give away the smaller sized watches to women these days, they are all buying 38-40mm watches. Some major brands are even marketing 38-40mm watches as ladies size, which I think looks perfect.

My wife is asking for a new watch for X-Mas, and she is looking for a larger watch also, I won't go less than 38mm or she won't wear it.

When looking recently my wife said that if she were to get one she would get the small version of the DJ.

I think there still probably is a market out there for the small version.

I bought my wife the 31mm datejust because she has incredibly small wrists. She is also only 5 ft tall so she is really small. We had to take all links out except for the permanent links to even get this watch to fit her so there is no way she could wear a bigger watch. Her Cartier is also small as well. There may women out there buyng bigger watches but there is still a market for the smaller watches. I see the 31mm in NYC all the time.

Nearly half of the watches Rolex sells worldwide are TT ladies' DJs.

I recently purchased a ladies President for my wife, she has been wearing an LV Sub for well over a year, and I thought that she would find it tiny, but she is very happy with the size.

She realizes that the LV looks like she's wearing my watch (which she is) and for her President, mid-siz or a Day-Date were options, but she felt on her they would look "borrowed".

I personally think big watches look great on women!

My wife just got the 29mm. YM. Tiny wrists. Think they took out 3 links. That said, she likes bigger watches.

I've read this in another thread sometime ago, boa2, would you by chance know the source for this info?

My wife prefer a larger size, simply more practical once past the age where longsightedness start. Just got her an AirKing 34mm.

Mr. James Dowling, who got this information directly from Rolex.

Tend to agree with anyone who asserts that larger watches on woman is a fad... We had those Jacob Co. (sp?) a couple of years ago, they had the diameter of my face- these turned out to be a fad. Its like ties. Ties' width change every 4-6 years, the cycle with watches could be similar. At the end of the day, year, decade or century, a woman's wrist is x size, that size must be able to comfortably accomodate a the wearer's wrist and therefore the sizes are limited. The watch has to be small enough to sit on the wrist of a lady but he large enough to read... These would be the two criteria.

Don't see why this would hurt Rolex, so instead of a ladies DJ, they go for a mid-sized... Rolex...

Interesting topic.

My wrist is a tiny 5" and I wear a 31mm DateJust which I love, the size is just perfect for me. I think it kinda depends on geographical location, I would think ladies in the Far East usually will go for smaller sizes, partly due to the fact that they have smaller wrist size (I am a Chinese by ethnicity).

I always feel a bit envious of ladies who have bigger wrists as there are more choices! But then I suppose my wallet might not have felt the same way.

Interesting topic

My wife is not keen on Rolex Ladies watches. She thinks they are too chunky.

She prefers to wear a small watch.

I was going to get her a Ladies Rolex, however she has been looking at my JLC catalogue and she very much wants a Duetto Reverso YG on leather.

You would likely only see women over 70 wearing the little fingernail-size watches

these days. They just ain't in fashion any more. My gf has a couple that she has had for over 40 years since she was a girl, but she doesn't really wear them. She prefers the Explorer I gave her.

My daughter has a macho-type job, (firefighter), and she is also an MMA fighter, so she said she wanted something 'feminine' for a watch. I gave her the 26mm Lady Oyster Perpetual with a black dial and pink markers, (they light up in blue!). That's about as small as they get these days.

Are there any gray guys who focus on women's Rolexes?

If there were a problem moving the women's lines, I'm sure there'd be a big gray market for them. Methinks that Rolex ADs don't have as much of a problem with the ladies pieces gathering dust as the more expensive men's lines do.

My wife has the ladies date 26mm and the Mid Size YM - I think the Date looks tiny on her after the YM for a week but she is tiny and has tiny wrists. She has tried on the Milgauss GV and it looks way too big on her, and they would literally have to remove all the links to wear it - which looks silly IMO.

I'm with you Pete...

Got my wife the SS Lady DateJust as well. Looks perfect on her. She has a size 3.25 ring finger, so a 26mm is just the ticket. She's not about wearing a dish plate on her wrist.

I recently got my wife a 29mm 16622 SS/PL YM. She loves it. But when I took her to try some models on at the AD, I had her try on the bigger sizes too even a Sub. I secretly was hoping she would want the Sub (so I could borrow it now and then ). But she liked the YM, so that was The One.

I would ONLY buy my wife a smaller watch. I think they sell because I notice so many out there. Women who are very much into "pop fashion" seem to like men's tool watches. I see lots of oversized fashion watches on turn styles at Target and Macy's.

I can't speak for the 20-something crowd, but I have a ladies Yachtmaster. My friends my age (late 30s-early 40s) wear women's sized watches, Rolex and otherwise. Many women I know wear thin, quartz watches. I think my husband's Sub is way too big for me. To me, I do not favor having the face of a watch take up almost my entire wrist. As it is I have to make a conscious effort not to bang my watch into my kids when they are running around (I have two boys under 10).
