Good pixs, but I found it a bit of a "soul-less" place. Crass materialism and class distinction are dominating features of the cities culture.

ah....sweet memories of our honeymoon. I've got an Omega for my wife in that Rivoli store.
Dubai has been quite disappointing tho, except for the fantastic hotels we've stayed at ( Ritz Carlton and Al Qasr)

Thanks for your comments

I absolutely love Dubai, been there a couple of times now
There isnt much heritage or culture there but the weather, beaches, hotels and food is top notch. We love going there as we are Muslim and all the food is Halal so we can eat whatever we want! McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, KFC, Verre (Gordon Ransey's Restaurant), Mezzanine (Gary Rhodes), Wagamama, etc. Visiting these places in the UK restricts us to Veg or Fish dishes but in Dubai we can have it all!!! nom nom nom :)

Took my one and only Rolex Submariner! :)

I used a Sony A200 with the standard kit lens (18mm-70mm) during the day and 50mm F1.8 at night. Been really impressed with this camera since getting it on fleabay! Highly Recommended

Please forgive the question here, I dont mean to seem ignorant at all. When you say the food is "Halal" is that similar to when people of Jewish faith refer to food as "Kosher?"

Im neither Jewish nor Muslim, but always like learning about different cultures and customs when I can.

Its nice to see my fellow Rolexers showing an interest

***The following passage is not suitable for Vegetarians***
Halal food is to Muslims what Kosher is to the Jewish
In a nutshell it means killing/slaughtering of an animal in a specific way which is outlined in the Quran. Any meat not killed in this way is not considered Halal. It applies to all types of meat except for Pork, which is never considered Halal or Kosher.

I have included a link which provides a more comprehensive explanation below:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halal_Meat

***Apologies to any vegetarians who stumble across this thread.***

I think Dubai marketing hype is on pair with Rolex's one. I will give Dubai another shot when Dubailand will be ready.

lovely pics, one of my favorite places in the world, am from Australia but love the multi culturlism over 100 different nationalities live there not to mention the amazing restaurants bars, hotels and beaches. Lot of people compare it to Vegas not sure why, its desert thats about it. Its got beaches and gambling is illegal, great place to buy a watch as well!

Hey RolexABC, spent 3 days there last week for work, caught a few rays on top of the Sheraton Deira. They had an awesome buffet. Prior to this I spent 3 days at the Sheraton Djibouti, one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in for service, and probably not the last time I will be there unfortunately.

Nice pictures

I nearly went there last year & would still like to go somwtime soon. It was my partners 40th ! It was a toss-up between Dubai or an eternity ring !! I think Dubai would have been cheaper ..... !!!
