If it is a trusted forum member with solid references, why not?
If it is a newbie with no history, forget about it!

As may have recommended, buy the seller! What is your scenario with an eBay watch moving to a forum seller?

trust the seller, yes and buy from a solid forum seller. totally agree.

to all seller, please do not get offended.

it is hard to notice some little aftermarket part being installed to a genuine rolex.

some e---bay sellers does that.

I think it is an interesting question about how do we know a watch is authentic? If we knew a watch was authentic, then I would not care what the source is.

Most of the paperwork can be forged. I have seen fakes on craigslist with all the documentation and paperword and boxes. And these sellers list their watches as replica's. I also see lots of sales of original boxes without the watch (which makes me even more cautious), why would someone want a box unless they are planning on putting a fake in it to sell??

I will admit, all this makes me a little sick and scared to buy. I do not know how I would react if I purchased a Rolex for $5000 or more money, and a year later discovered it was a fake. I think I would go after the sellers entire family since they have to know they live with a crook.

This is not a topic for the Rolex Discussion Forum.

All buying and selling topics are to go in the WatchOut Forum.

Thus if one can't follow these simple rules what confidence could one have in sending them a chuck of cash for a watch

My take is, if it is fake, it's fake - no matter where the seller purchased the watch. Most of the watches on ebay are genuine, as most here have noticed! The rub with ebay and paypal, at least for me, is their operation and how they treat their clientele when there is a problem. I also have issues with some of the deceptive sellers there, but that is another topic.

If the watch is legit and the price is right, of course I would buy it from him.
