Please elaborate what you mean because all the present Internet codes could ever tell you was when a case was approximately stamp. Now when the movement was made in that case only Rolex knows that one.And can assure you they are not all made the same week, month, or year. And when buying new its got the same warranty as any other new watch no matter what the case stamp.Watches don't go off they are not perishable and suddenly degrade and explode. And with modern oils they could be stored 5- 10 years or more with out any harm whatsoever.

Nopt sure what you are saying but I highly doubt anyone knows what the Random serial numbers mean except for Rolex at this point.

Just like the IBM mainframe and mid range systems years ago, no one could figure out how they were numbering their model numbers. It was a running joke that IBM has a dedicated employee whose only job is to conjure the next model (meaningless) numbers.

My guess is the OP is trying to say -

"Random serials are impossible to decipher.
And that is the whole purpose of the manufacturer to produce random serials.
What is your opinion. Or do you know how to crack the code."

I'll agree that this is likely the question......

The answer is that collectors will need to do a bit more research...

But real collectors already do that.. It is the new owner who has become lazy and simply looks at a number, runs to a chart (put together by researchers) and wrongly assumes that his/her watch was manufactured on some guessed date..

Owners will now need to do their own research using cases, bracelets, dial font changes, inside case-backs, and movement changes to properly date a watch.. the way that collector/researchers have done for centuries...

Maybe we will all learn more about our watches....such as an oval "O" pre-dates a round "O", and a 2 tick dial predates a 4 tick dial, and a 3135 came after a 3035, and so forth......

What if we all boycotted Rolex until they agreed to time stamp their watches as the roll off the assembly line.

That would work, right?? ;-)
