New Member, maybe a newbie question...
Hi, I'm glad to find a rolex forum. My rolex collection is limited, a SS daytona that I barely wear just because I like admiring it and an Airking that I used to wear all the time to be low-key.
I am shipping the air king to my cousin, and he is telling me to pull the stem to prevent overwinding. Is this necessary? Thanks, look forward to learning alot on contributing what little I can around here. |

Welcome to TRF! "Pulling" (screwing out) the crown would actully make it worse, since the crown stem is then proned to sideway pressure during transit. It might even break!  Your Rolex has a safety clutch to prevent overwindig, so that is NO issue, and the movement has a KIF shock resistance that can handle pretty hard drops. So don't worry!  But be SURE to have it sent INSURED!! BTW: What kind Daytona do you have??  SS, TT or YG? "Zenith" movement (Cal. 4030) or the new in-house Rolex movement (Cal. 4130)? Can you post some pics for us, please?

A watch that is being shipped should be winded if it is a winder, if an automatic, there is no need of course.
Nothing else needs to be done. |
