Both are listed as 40MM watches,

The Sub has a slightly thicker case, triplock crown as opposed to twinlock, and a little different bezel.

If by "face" you mean dial, then they are both the same - 30 mm!

The Submariner is thicker and heavier than the GMT II. It stands taller on the wrist.

Mind you, the SeaDweller is the heaviest and the thickest of them all!

Same! but Submariner looks like bigger cause of the bigger numbers ar its bezel and also its crown lock is bigger than GMT and all other things are same size ,bracelet,case,bezel,dial,etc...

The new GMT II has bigger case like the sub and a triple lock crown. So, if you like the thicker heavier case of sub, triple lock crown and the practical usability of a GMT II then you may want to check out the new GMT II.

The new GMT-II still has the same case diameter of 40 mm as the existing line-up. It's just a slightly thicker case and, more importantly, thicker lugs that makes it appear larger. Of course, the bold new ceramic bezel is imposing and gives the watch a bigger look.
