Hello, new member and also in need of help

Hello every one, my name is James. A few days ago, my uncle bought me this datejust on ebay as a graduation gift, but the seller does not have the registration and warranty paper, but boxes and everything else is there. He stated that he is the original owner the watch was purchase from carlyle jewelers in Winston-Salem, NC, in 2005, but I think that store is closed now. Can you guys help me with the authenticity of the watch? and also the oyster band is after market, the jubilee is the original rolex band that comes with the watch, but it is a bit too big for my wrist, and I do not have the right tool to size it. Therefore I am wearing the aftermarket band at the moment.

I live near the Rolex boutique in Costa Mesa, CA, but afraid to bring in a fake watch there. so please help me :)

If you're concerned, the only way to know for sure is to have a watchmaker pop the back off and to look at the movement.

Welcome.

hmmm seems odd...A Y serial number dated around 2002 or so with a worn jubillee band and a slightly worn hologram sticker on the back?? I guess I am skeptical...hmmm...when you unscrew the crown and set the time what way does the hands move? Say you turn the crown clockwise to change the time...do the hands turn counterclockwise or clockwise??

It looks authentic, box, papers, main case, dial, the oyster bracelet does not fit the main case.

umm, when I turn the crown toward the 12 position, the minute hand turns clockwise and when turn toward the 6 position, it turns counterclockwise. And I think I can answer for the "only slightly worn green sticker" The orginal owner never even remove the plastic cover that sit on top of the green sticker. I can even see the reference number on that piece of plastic when hold a certain angle.

OK that is good news...the replica ETA's of that model go the opposite. Turn the crown towards the 12 and the hands should move clockwise

Thank you for all of your help. From the feedback I get, it seems like this watch is a real deal after all. Maybe now I can pay a visit to the rolex boutique and have them take a look at the watch. And once again, thank you for all you help :)
