Oyster Manual Winding

Hi. I have just purchased my brand new Oyster Pertpetual Date From Rolex in Switzerland.. I have noticed that if I open the triplock after a days use of the watch into position 1, when I try winding the watch clockwise or anti clockwise there is no winding noise, it is just turning, however, when I screw the triplock back in and take it back out to position 1 the watch then starts to wind.. I was wondering what the issue could be ( if it is an issue) as it is taking away my sleep..

Any comments would be much appreciated!

I don't think that an Oyster Perpetual Date would have a Triplock, but a Twinlock. Let us just say that you are likely just referring to the crown and stem...

I don't think that there is likely anything wrong with your watch.. It is a mechanical connection and when the stem is pulled out, the pinions and wheels need to physically move into proper position. It frequently takes a bit of a wiggle or a couple of tries to get it into the proper alignment..

Thank you for your reply, I meant crown instead of triplock so thanks for correcting me!
You are right, it sometimes does take a wiggle to get it into proper alignment, there's nothing wrong with that is it?

The AD said that because its brand new it would take some time for everything to loosen up!

Also, does opening the crown on a daily basis damage the watch?

If you are wearing the watch on a daily basis there shouldn't be a need to unscrew the crown. Rik
