Wild. Wonder who can service something that complicated and what the 5 year tune up would cost?

You're right! How cool would it be if there WAS a tiny gold pinball inside that bounced around the dial. :)

As for servicing, I think Costco does them for $49.95. :)

I'd bet you're looking at over 5k for a service, maybe closer to 10.

Why are there three separate 24 hour dials?

And the big question, do those hands actually all move? lol

Not a fan....
HORRID resale value.
A couple clients have asked me to sell theirs for them
and I won't even do it as when they hear what they
can get they are shocked and think Im making it up.
If you REALLY love it but used.
Do not buy a basic model, he is the Master of Complications
and that is the only way you will have a decent resale.

I once talked with a aftersales watchmaker at Audemars Piquet. He was working on a regular service of a perpetual calender tourbillon minute repeater. I asked how long it would take, he replied about 2 months.
I guess it would cost a lot of $$$ two pay for this expert wages for 2 months, plus the earnings of AP and the dealer. It probably costs around 20k- 30k

Two months sounds a bit on the high side, maybe factoring in time waiting on parts, testing, regulation and fine tuning? Two months continuous work is a lot of work.

Probably somewhere between $250,000-300,000. That's a lot of Rolexes, or pateks for that matter.

Honestly, does it count as 3 separate complications if you just have 3 separate GMT time zones? I mean I'm sure you could make a watch with 40 GMT zones and take out the record for most complicated watch.

My good friend has a Perp Cal made by them. It's fine and he loves it, but the design really doesn't do anything for me. That being said, the grand complications are engineering masterpieces.

if sothebys were having a watch auction... would muller make the cut?

would the prices typically be greatly diminished or increase in value.

that is my question and my litmus test of value.

Franck's limited edition and highly complicated models that have been commissioned and made for exclusive clients are some phenomenal time pieces...and would definitely command big numbers at an auction.

interesting, i would definitely need more education on these watches. ive heard about them for maybe 10 years now but haven't given them much thought...

but imho,

it is trendy now that things are sold in limited editions with exclusivity.... but this more often than not, seems to be marketing hype.

when something is made in modern production to be collectible from the start... i just don't think that its authentic. some things perhaps but few and far between.

the mona lisa was not created to be collectible, it became that way later... so the out of the box franck muller - mona lisa, is not convincing me of its long term value?

ps as i wright this there is a member looking to trade his muller for a rolex (just about any rolex)
