Contemplating which one to buy, I have had the sub-c (black and green)before and loved it. The glidelock clasp is phenomenal. The GMT IIc has the polished center links which I really like (but I might get a datejust that will satisfy that!). The GMT has the fourth hand that I will never use - which raises the question, if you don't use the GMT hand, then what do you set it to?

Obviously both are great watches, I don't dive, so the water resistance of the sub does not matter.

So which would you choose? Pics of the GMT or sub won't hurt!

Sub c because of the Glidelock clasp.

I have owned both...I sold the GMTIIC and kept the SubC. I prefer the Glidelock, the more subdued bezel font and the chromalite dial markers on the Submariner. In addition, the PCLs drove me nuts on the GMT. It seemed like they would scratch by just looking at them.

Have had 2 Sub Cs. Sold them both and now have a GMTIIC and could not be happier.

I had the same decision to make when I upgraded from my 16610...

I went with the Sub C...

Its a more subdued look. Not so many hands. Not so many numbers.

Its clean, classic and classy

You set it to your home time when you are home. Some folks set to all sorts of wacky times...relative's locations etc.

Interesting choices. You don't dive / but want a Sub. You don't travel, but are considering a GMT.

Maybe the DJ is the best choice...very different watch though.

Well I bet 99% of people who buy the sub don't dive.

As far as the GMT I'm sure many people buy it strictly because of it's second time zone feature.

As far as looking at another brand! Common now, I want a Rolex

. Just because I might not need the features, that certainly does not mean I can't enjoy the quality, design and class of having it.

But if you've had it already then I would try something new and go for the GMTC.

I also don't travel much so I keep the 2nd time zone set at my local standard time.
PCLs are very nice and dress the watch up just the right amount..

If you have already had but traded away the Sub C, then maybe it is time to try the GMTIIC.

Judged only by appearance, Sub C LV is my personal favorite.
But, since you already had Sub C, why don`t go with GMT IIc this time? Great looking watch, I like PCL (it gives it somewhat dressier look) and second time zone complication is really nice addition to already perfect watch!

Both great watches...

However the GMT is awesome... and don't let the PCL get in the way of your decision because you can always get them brushed...

So what do you think now?

how could someone decide this for you? both great watches, both rolex.
i chose the sub (simpler, the clasp felt better and no pcls) but had i chosen the gmt i'd be just as happy right now.

Both are great watches, but Personally I would go for the Sub-C as I think it looks much neater and not as busy as the GMT II C. Also the Sub-C has the advantage of the glidelock clasp. Sub-C all the way personally !

I've owned both, and it depends on your use. If you fly a fair amount though different time zones, then the GMT is very handy. If you jog, time your steaks on the bar-b-que, and so on, the Sub C is better as the detentes on the GMT do not allow for single minute timing. And of course, if you actually dive, then the Submariner is better.

My final solution was the TT 16613 Ceramic Sub in black. Had mine about a year and love it.

They feel nearly the same on the wrist. Both are excellent watches.

Tyr both and buy thats sings to you, IMHO.

Got to try them both on - the GMT looks great in the pics but I've got one and it's just not 100% me - only about 90% me - I had a 16600 SD before it and I want to go back there - either another SD or a BNIB/LNIB Sub ND 14060M - I love the clean dial 14060 non-COSC but would feel safer going for the newer COSC. You can't decide by looking at pics.

I like the GMTIIc more just because it is more practical to me. I have lots of relatives over the globe and travel quite a bit. JMHO. Can't go wrong with either.
