Is the bezel insert ceramic or is the entire bezel ceramic. From pictures it looks like the insert is ceramic but not the knurled portion. That looks steel.

Insert is ceramic, the bezel is steel.

Correct and very expencive to replace if damaged,not like the older insert.

I've been asking in this forum about that, GMT anniversary owners are saying that their bezels have taken extreme cold and hard cracks, with no ill effects.

I strongly believe that Rolex would not introduce a ceramic bezel that wasn't exhaustively tested. As such, I personally believe it will perfrom extremely well, and with few if any breakages.

It certainly has a reflective gloss that is almost liquid, and which has its own distinctive bling aesthetic qualities compared to the metal bezel inserts. I like both for different reasons.

I think with technology, ceramics are tough as nails. I used to own a badminton racquet that was made of ceramic material. It was tough, but it did crack after I whacked it against another player's racquet several times.
