Its 27mm at the lugs. Does anyone make a Nato this wide? Would it look completely goofy if it didn't taper down and was 27mm wide?

Yes, they do. You just have to google or eBay it. As you already know, 26MM is probably going to be the only one available, and it will be 1MM short when installed. Honestly, it shouldn't look bad at all...

Get you a nice custom leather NATO in 26mm. Just google it!
