GMTIIc, Cartier Roadster, a Lotus Evora and the Cote D'Azur

Hey fellow TRFers,

Just a few photos from my long weekend to St Tropez and the Cote D’Azur.

Popped over to Nice on Friday morning last week, hired the new Lotus Evora in Phantom Black and cruised around the Cote D’Azur stopping at as many Rolex stores as possible…… The Lotus wasn’t that bad and, for your information, received way more attention and photo grabbing from passers buy than its £60k price tag would suggest it should……. Although not the easiest to get in and out of and clearly no luggage space .

The little lady was wearing her new TT Cartier Roadster Birthday pressie which, in turn, allowed me my indulgence…. albeit restricting myself on this occasion to wearing just the GMTIIc which, by the way, didn’t lose a single second over 4 days when checked with my atomic clock on return. Normally, it loses about 2 seconds a day but this was the first time I have worn it continuously for more than 2 days due to rotational necessities and was amazed to find it so accurate over a slightly longer period.

The watch display photos are from Rolex St Tropez....... and unfortunately, that's not my boat in the last photo

Next time try to visit the south west near "dune du pilat" and cap ferret... Much less tourist zones and much less awful coast constructions, nice, st tropez etc are often known to be "jet set" ie to be seen, but not to see beautiful things and sceneries. Nice lotus!

Thanks Dino. No it was a just a hire car so flew down to Nice and hired it for a long weekend. But definitely a lot of bang in the visual and attention stakes for the price. Not a bad drive either.

Thx Thomas. Yes very cool for a weekend. But not sure if I could do much longer. Pretty full on tourist territory

Thx and yes definitely need to get away from the hoardes of tourists next time and see something other than Dior, Gucci, Armani, D&G etc. May also leave my wallet slightly more in tact .

Good work indeed sir on all counts.
I am a fan to that region of France, I used to consult on data connectivity solutions for superyachts, spending most of my time based in Cap D'Antibes, I must admit I do miss it when I see pics like yours.
Reference the Evora, I saw it race at Le Mans for the first time this year and it has a hint of the 458 Italia about it when its in race trim covered in sponsorship logos etc. A few UK models were doing the rounds in Arnage, I think Lotus were sending out a lot of demonstrators to get the cars noticed. It certainly worked.

Great thread, thanks for sharing and sending me down memory lane
