sell a subC to get a 16610LV ?

Lately i ve been really drawn to the original LV over my subC. Just think its a much nicer looking watch all round and i ve got a thing for owning out of production rolexs over current models.

Does anyone else think the LV is 'the' maxi dial sub to have?

No, i would have to disagree. You can beat the ceramic dial and glidelock clasp, but to each their own, good luck with your decision.

I really like the 16610 LV. It's a blend of new and old that for me is the right combination. Love the maxi dial. Change the bezel insert to/from green to black, etc.

Try it on and see which one you like best. Go with your heart.

Yes, I own 2 LV's and I'm very happy with it. I can purchase a Sub C anytime.

The other one is a safe queen, makes me happy when i look at it or I can get a black bezel and rotate between a green or a black bezeled LV Sub.

I have owned both and I would keep the sub c. I had a LV Sub a couple of years ago and the new sub just blows it away, and it goes with everything. I felt so uncomfortable wearing a watch with the green insert.

16610LV is a classic IMO. I think a 116610LN would be a great addition to it

I would in a second. That is sell a SubC for an original LV.

I decided to get the LV because I already had a GMTIIC and I wanted a Sub. The LV was just different enough for me to make it worth it.

Besides the fact that it is a Sub I really do kind of like the older bracelet because it is lighter and the Maxi dial is a plus.

It's a great watch, but so is the SubC. I can't help you, your going to have to determine if it is worth trading your SubC for.

i wouldnt trade my sub-c for an lv. I feel that the older bands and clasps are tin like and love to solid links and new clasp

I would trade. The classic case sub is much more:
- logical (why a squarrish case which the same bracelet? There is absolutely no functional reason, apart polishing capacity.. But chamfers disappear too)
- refined (less is better, the "old" case had been keeping its shape for ages.. Because it is perfectly balanced)
- lighter
- simple ( have someone ever had a problem with the old bracelet, whereas millions were sold? With the old insert? )
I am not saying that "older is better", i am just saying that they are different: one is a real tool watch, well balanced and engineered over years and years ; the other looses some parts (dive extension) and tends to be more shiny, more complex, the bezel turns more easily (diving problem here) but, that is a good point, more easy to adjust on the wrist. Are you more towards simplicity and heritage or towards technology and novelty?

Honestly, I prefer the 16610LV. Something about the style, weight and the bracelet combo made it perfect in my eyes

The old Sub has NOTHING on the SubC, it is just old now already, imagine how it will fell 10years from now...

A classic 16610 with aluminum insert will still be a classic in 10 years. If the new Exp2 in an indicator of the future of Rolexes a new 42 mm sub with proportional lugs will kill the current sub IMO.

yeah i dont know what it is about the ceramic stuff...I had a GMT2C and sold it and got a gmt Pepsi and never looked back and could be on my way to selling my SubC...

I wouldn't make the switch. The sync is too great of an improvement over the older models.
Btw the subc does not need a dive extension due to the glidelock -and it works very well. Also I don't find my bezel turns too easily-I know there have been some that do though. Considering you can still find 16610lv's in ADs there is no way I would consider a straight trade-the subc is worth more. Anyone saying otherwise is reacting to (paraphrasing Padi) Internet hype.

keep the subc as the bracelet is thicker and nicer than the 16610LV's If the lugs are bothering you on the subC consider a sea dweller

Why not trying the two side by side (and post a picture here so that the 400 people can change their mind) and take "the one that sings at you"? If you do so, you will think "yes, why not a new watch.. Nooo, that one sang at me"

You really have to see the dial of the ceramic 116610V to make your choice. The bezel is one thing, but the green dial is amazing! I just bought one, and in the parking garage it looked kind of black like the old LV, in the sunlight it was emerald green, in the car yet another color, just an awesome watch! If you see my Hulk thread, I have a pic showing it even goes with plaid!

If you're buying for investment purposes, I have no idea what you should do. For wearing purposes, go with the new one, IMHO.

I've stated many times that the 16610/LV arguably is the finest Rolex Submariner of all time. Now with that stated, I would not trade/sell a new Sub/C for a classic LV, nor would I sell an LV to fund a Sub/C. They both stand on their own; the classic has been there--done that as a pioneering tool watch for decades, the sequel product is the benefactor of all the heavy lifting and will never really have to prove itself. They are both great watches to have, if I had to pick between the two, it would be one or the other!
