"Is your watch waterproof?"

I was at a public spring-fed pool today trying to cool off (our AC went out this morning). Anyhow, I was dangling my feet in the water, about to take the cold plunge, when a woman in the water said, "Is your watch waterproof?"

Since I was wearing my 14060, I felt confident in saying, "Yes, it is."

She said, "Well, it looks really nice, and I didn't want to see you ruin it if you jumped in."

I thanked her kindly and slid into the cool, refreshing water.

She probably meant, being it's a 14060, not a 116610, you should be careful.

Back in HS I used to get that all the time too... it wasn't a rolex, but my first "nice" watch, a Tag 2000 Professional rated to 200M

Any time I was at a pool or beach or any water people around me would freak about it getting ruined

You know...in hindsight, she probably was hitting on me... I'm just too much of a WIS to have realized it!

I was about to go down a big water slide the other day and the young lifeguard asked me if my camera was waterproof. I am sure his intentions were honorable, so I politely said yes and started it before starting the crazy ride down. I am sure he thought I was nuts.

I wish someone would of asked me that before I took our family camera into the hot tub in LA. You should of said "It's a Oyster Perpetual Superlative Chronometer 300m/1000 ft" then turned and looked at her and say "I'm sure it's up for the task". Haha

Well...mine isn't a superlative chronometer. So I'd be a liar!
