Icon14 Who wears them, everyone but me...

While focusing on Rolex watches I find myself noticing people who wear them. In southern california coastal areas they are very popular (subs, GMT, daytona, SD, etc).

Last week when I was visiting a gold purchasing store, the fedex guy shows up to drop of a package, he's wearing a near new looking dateSub, then, today I am getting new tires, the guy who helped me, yes, he is wearing a newer dateSub as well...

I think it's outstanding that Rolex watches are clearly not limited to the very top tier income groups. My search continues...perhaps next sometime this year I'll make my decision (old vs. new GMTII) and wear a new everyday watch...

Don't forget the over 2 million/year (I was told) Rolex replicas out in the wild as well.
I had dinner at a local restaurant the other day and ALL the waitors were sporting fake PAMs
Just today a photographer was wearing a fake EXPII

+1. Lots of fakes but if you're a true Rolex guy, you can soon tell a fake from the pretenders.

More subs

Last weekend at my sons tee ball game I saw a few sub wearing dads, and a guy with a maintenance truck sporting a nice vintage no date sub. Man, maybe I picked the wrong career...

They can be on the expensive side (new), but they aren't made of unobtanium. A lot of these guys that wouldn't seem like hi rollers are single, bachelor types with not a lot of bills. They don't have a wife telling them that they can't blow a whole paycheck on a watch. (ahhh, the good old days). So they get that Rolex. Hell, at least they don't have to smuggle it in under the cover of darkness like so many of us watch nerds on these forums.

Or clip coupons so they can siphon off the savings for their watch fund.

Blow a whole paycheck on a watch? How about more than 1 paycheck, how about several paychecks? How about many paychecks? Not everyone is a big income earner! For some, having the Rolex passion is very costly and can take awhile to save for.

Thats a fact! Some of us save up all year to buy just one watch. I'd love to be able to impulse buy a rolex or two.

Well, I gotta tell you that I have two and I'm nowhere near the top tier of income earners.

Most of you'd fall off your chairs laughing if you knew what my income is.

Still, I manage to enjoy life pretty well.

Good point on the fakes, I am just starting to spot the differences between fake and real watches. The only thing I know about fakes is that I won't wear one...

Is it a competition? I'll play.

Last year I spent what I make in a year on watches. I sold my car to buy more.

Win? No.
I saved all my life for my Sub no date.
Even then I had to use some of the money from dead relatives to buy.

If that's a "win" or not would depend on how old you are, I would think.

My obsession

My watch obsession is for Rolex stainless steel GMTII's, polar expII's, subs.

Lately I am seeing beauty in day dates, air kings, date just--- dam, I'm hooked...! I am giving up my car hobby to fund a few Rolex purchases.

I need a Monday- Friday work rolex for my long sleeve conservative days.
I need a weekend Rolex for outdoor activity..
I need an evening out on the town Rolex...
