New axe (and I'm not talking about the spray)!

Greetings TRF,

I know I'm still new to this forum so a lot of you don't know me but those who do also know I'm a big fan of blues guitar and collecting axes them is my other sin! Unfortunately for my passion I'm a left handed and therefore I don't have a lot of choices when it comes to Gibson guitars but I really wanted that specific model and I thought I could try a little Hendrix trick! Please let me introduce you to my brand new...pre owned Gibson Reverse Firebird that has been "reversed"...again! Got it?

(By the way, those four first pictures were taken before the modifications)

Photo0124.jpg

Photo0125.jpg

As you can see it has a couple of scratches and dents on it but it doesn't change the way it sounds and, to be honest, I think it gives it quite a good look!

Photo0126.jpg

Photo0127.jpg

And now, the Gibby sisters!

Photo0128.jpg

Photo0131.jpg

Thank you for watching. Of course, as always, pictures of your guitars are appreciated! Now I'll just need to have a "left handed" nut placed on the neck and I'll be able to play it just like Johnny Winter...well...not like him but I'll try...we have the same guitar what else would I need!?

Love those Firebirds! Very nice, congrats.

Opened for Johnny Winter a handful of times back in the 90's.
Here's a few of mine.

Lovely collection! It's amazing to think you played on his stage! I saw him last year at a little club in Montreal. He's a great guitarist and I think it's a shame he isn't known that much...

Thank you! As stupid as it will sound I bought it last July on my way to get myself a Firebird as I've been thinking about it for a long time. The guy at the store told me it was back order and he suggested me to look on the second hand market and in the store I found this little beauty at a great price. It was pretty much a gift to help me wait before I'd find one of those sunburst beauties!

I think that's what makes this forum special. I love watches as much as anybody around here but ever since I subscribed I met a lot of people sharing my passion for music and guitars! It's like a forum full of my clones!

Thank you for the compliment on my babies!

Carl, That's a cool Firebird. I like the look of banjo tuners. Do they take any getting used to? A couple of mine:

When i played guitar in bands i usually played Fender Srat/Tele but did have a Gibson SG Special once. I moved to bass guitar and had Rickenbacker/Fender/Warwick basses with a variety of amps using Fender,Sunn or Marshall set ups.

Thank you all for your kind comments and the pictures of those wonderful guitars you all have, I'm really proud of my purchase, it's a very comfortable guitar with a great sound!

I personally didn't have to get used to it. To me they aren't very different from the regular Gibson tuners (or any of them for that matter) but I did have some trouble putting the big E string in place because the nut of the headstock is for a right handed guitar and it kept getting out of place. I had to turn it the other way in order to get the string to stay in place!

You seem to have quite a good collection of instruments! Would you have any pictures of them?

I'm very sorry to read that Eric, I don't know how I'd feel if that happened to me...

Can I ask you what guitar it was?

By all means please get them again NOW! At least you know you enjoyed it all those years and, as I like it, drugs free!
