Log Home or Brick Ranch?
Anyone here own a Log Home? Trying to decide whether to build a new all brick ranch (with 2x6 wall) or a Log Home, when I get back to the USA in a year or so. Family has a 80 acre farm that I am thinking of tearing down the existing farm house and building a new place on.

A friend of ours built his home from logs cut square and notched for overlay on the ends 12x12 logs each drilled and lagged to the underlaying one. Silicone between each log and abutments. Was told the effectcy of the house is more than R34 rating which in my eyes is alot of energy savings.
my 2 cents :o) |

I have a client that builds Log Homes & ships world wide.
For me, Log Home all the way. Not cheap by any stretch of the imagination. When you buy a log home, you just buy the shell, everthing else extra.
