Is this the real deal? (Lady d/j)

Looking to purchase a nice watch for the lady companion. She wants a Tag, but if I can swing the Rolex she will like it much more (or maybe I would). Thoughts?

That's a beauty and I'm sure she'd like it.

However, if you can convince her to do without the diamonds, IMO it would look better. The diamond bezel tends to make the watch look out of proportion to the bracelet.

She wants the diamonds, imagine that...funny thing is she wants a diamond bezel more than a diamond face. Is this real, as I did not know Rolex made a d/j with a diamond bezel without a diamond face also? Or would it be better to buy a regular TT d/j and get an aftermarket diamond bezel?

If you can avoid aftermarket stuff as far as possible, please do so.

Get her a diamond studded bezel by all means, but try and keep it original.....and she'll love you all the more for it!!

But, does Rolex make a d/j with a diamond bezel and no diamond face?
basically, is this one legit?

Since you asked, I have to say that the bezel on the one pictured above does not look right. Rather crude in parts, poor structure and finish certainly not up to Rolex standard.

But does it really have to be a diamond bezel? You can still get some real "bling" from a Lady DJ with a MOP dial....or perhaps a dial with 10 "brilliants".

You need to check out your AD for the real stuff. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Good luck - JJ

this one is $3,600. A new one is $LOTS at an AD, that is why I was asking. Good deal, or bad deal? Or better yet, would you buy the Rolex above for $3,600 watch or the one pictured below for $2,075? This is my rock and hard place.

Since you're asking me, my honest reply would be: NEITHER!!

Like I said, for the kind of money you're prepared to spend, there's much better stuff out there.

Good luck once again - JJ

Believe me, she like the diamond bezel better the watch itself. When I bought my girl friend a TT DJ, I thought she liked it at the time. Later on I find out out she like the one with the diamond bezel much more.

The watch appears to be genuine, however, the bezel is NOT original Rolex.

Rolex ONLY puts diamond bezels on solid gold and solid platinum models.

However, TT DJ does come with diamond set dial.

I don't believe Rolex uses channel set diamonds for brilliant diamonds, but pave setting. Channel set only for bagettes.

Hope this helps.

Eagle,

If your lady wants the Tag, it would be a big mistake on your part to decide - for her - that she would like the Rolex better.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with the DJ (I don't consider an after market bezel "wrong") A traditional fluted bezel could be put back on at any time.. It's a gorgeous ladies time piece, and, diamonds are a girls best friend.. My wife wears the exact DJ ~24/7 (with the fluted bezel) and loves it. However, she has a SS DJ jubilee with diamond dial and bezel for "evenings out".

Still, that Tag is no slouch......and the lady has spoken...

Don't screw this up

TAG w/ diamonds

I bought my wife a TAG quartz Link w MOP face, daimond markers and diamond bezel. She loves it. Trying to get her a Rolex but she won't cooperate. The Rolex equivalent to the TAG would put a dent in the wallet. Good luck.

Jac67 is correct about the bezel, Rolex does not have a two-tone model with a full diamond bezel. Be aware that if you do deside to purchase a SS/18k with the diamond bezel, the watch is NOT WATER RESISTANT!! And if you ever need to get it serviced by Rolex they will not work on it unless you pay for them to replace the bezel back to the original one. Just so you know...
Good luck with your search!

Vanessa

Thank you Vanessa

You are spot on.

This happened me when I took my wife's TT DJ with aftermarket diamond bezel for service at a RSC.

I did have the original bezel, so no harm done. I did ask Rolex if I could buy a genuine Rolex diamond bezel for it, and they told me that diamond bezels are "reserved" only for solid gold and platinum.

I would definitely go for the Tag.

Good price.
Looks better in the flesh than in the pic shown.
New $5 battery every 5 years instead of a $300 RSC Service.

Your missus likes it, that's the main thing.

My wife's diamond/TT RV Parsival in still in very good condition after 6 years, worn daily and just one battery change.
