Armed robbery in Rolex store in Iceland, 49 Rolexes stolen- Robbers caught-Rolexes so
Armed robbery in Rolex store in Iceland, 49 Rolexes stolen- Robbers caught-Rolexes sold with good discount.
There was an armed robbery in Iceland in the beginning of the month. Three masked men ran into the Rolex shop with guns and hammers. They ordered the staff to lie down while they broke display glasses and took 49 Rolex and Tudor watches, ran out and drove away in a stolen car. One of the men was caught on a surveillance camera in a nearby street and was identified as a Polish citizen. They had all got away from the country on a plain the same day. A few days later another Polish man was arrested in Iceland trying to smuggle the 49 watches hidden inside a door in a car, trying to get away in a ferry (thanks to the customs office). Two other Polish men were arrested in Poland, but believe me or not: they were released because Iceland an Poland donīt have a mutual agreement on exchanging prisoners (is it called extradition?) Anyway the BIG news is: My AD is selling Rolexes with discount with full warranty and of course box and papers. I bought one today, Explorer I to give to my son as a graduation present. My AD asked me not to tell how much discount I got, but it was substantial and I was very happy with it. The watches are in good condtion, some minor scratches on bracelets. Heīs been selling a lot of them the last few days. He sold all the Daytonas abroad. Here is a link to the news (in Icelandic, but with a picture) when the police found the watches. http://mbl.is/frettir/innlent/2011/1...latnir_lausir/ I can tell you I didnīt feel well seeing all the watches in one heap. I immediately contacted the AD which is a good acquaintance of mine and asked him to sell me the Explorer which he did.

At least the watches were recovered and there was no loss of life. Congrats on your acquisition; today I received my 116610LV

Too bad about the robbery but glad they recovered the watches.
Is this kind of armed robbery unusual in Iceland? I had always though violent crime rates were low in Iceland but I guess low doesn't mean zero. |

The stolen watches were probably bought at 1/4 of retail as salvage from the insurance company and are being sold for 1/2 of retail.
I`m amazed at how quickly things happen in Iceland. |
