Perhaps it's the lighting on the photo, but the numbers on the date wheel don't look quite right. Can you provide photos taken from directly over the top of the watch?

Sorry to be a party pooper guys, but I have reservations about this one.
I have spent some time comparing details on the dial with mine through a loupe, and a few things not quite right. I suppose it also depends on how consistently accurate Rolex are with their tolerances, and also if there may be any small differences between a SS (116710) and a TT (116713) when comparing dials, hands, etc. or maybe even between production runs (mine is an M serial). I could be wrong (and I would be happy to be wrong!), but if you want peace of mind for your $10K, can I respectfully suggest you take it to an RSC - even if just to get a quote on a service. That should give you definitive proof, especially if you need to go back to the grey dealer (who may be also be an innocent victim of a very good fake).

@ Porche - That's good advice. What gives you pause about this piece?

I have just checked again, still looks wrong (eg. 2nd pic down from the new pics, appears that the second hand is too long) but maybe the angle/lens/camera is slightly distorting things... Keep in mind I'm the odd one out, everyone else says looks OK, I'd be very happy if I was wrong... Like I said, for $10K I would go to an RSC, I would not rely on opinions from well-meaning people who are at a disadvantage by only having a facsimile of the real thing to judge (ie. average pics on a monitor).

My initial thought from the pics is it looks legit. Photos only are tough. Let someone look at it that knows Rolex.

I'm no expert, but unless you've worn it quite a bit already I'd say it's used... The clasp looks like it has a bunch of hairline scratches on it already.
I see the same gap in the bracelet Mickey does, it's consistently in the pics. What is that???

If it was one pic, you could say just a reflection, but it is in ALL the pics??? Maybe the colored tab of a sticker... ! Unfortunately pics not sharp enough to be sure of anything... I was just having a good look and comparison of the embossed crown on the clasp... not as clean or crisp as I would expect. Again, very hard with these pics...

Wow! You guys have wicked good eyes!
I looked at the etched crown in the 3rd pic from the 2nd set of pictures and figured it had to be the real McCoy. Can't believe how amazingly observant you all are!! |

Well, you should not be able to see the etched crown so easily. Must be just a really great pic. Other than that it looks fine. Seeing the etched crown so easily does bother me though. I say get it checked out at a Rolex dealer. |

That was what had me pretty convinced that it was authentic. It's invisible in most of the pictures, but, in that one, with perfect lighting and angle, you could see it. Most of the fake etchings that I've seen have been stuck out like sore thumbs, like a, "Hey! Look at me! I'm etched!" and this one didn't. |

BNIB since I first posted pics but even then it was getting alot of love already
Ive been wearing this watch for the past three days, and everytime I look at it it smiles back at me. The black square thing was indeed a sticker that I removed last night, this watch has stickers all over! I keep finding new ones every now and then I took it to the RSC two hours ago. As our local RSC does not perform authentication checks, I had to act dumb and tell him the the watch is acting strange, losing and gaining a fews seconds, may you please have a look at it? The guy took it inside to the Rolex watchmakers and they put it under a huge magnifying glass, where he starts to fiddle with it. He unscrewed the crown and started playing around, I was looking at them from the window in the waiting area. The receptionist then comes out holding my watch telling me everything is fine sir, you need not worry. I suppose that a guy who handles handles hundreds of Rolexes every month would certainly spot a fake. However he did not open the case I am relieved now |

That's great news s.al-anizi
I'l be the first to take back my doubts. In fairness to all the other replies as well, web-pics are not a substitute for handling the real thing. Congrats, glad to hear it "sings to you", enjoy it.... PS. Please do us (and yourself) a favor and get your next one checked out BEFORE purchase, hehe. I don't think we could all go through that all again...

Thanks guys, scratches give the watch some personality, I buy a watch to wear a watch, not keep it in a safe.
As we arabs say "break it up in good health" ;p |
