Most comfortable 44mm PAM?

I had my eyes set on a PAM 312 or a Submariner but after trying on both back to back I felt the Sub was much more comfortable. Then after reading a few more threads on the forum, I found out the 312 is bulkier than other PAMs. Is this due to the automatic in-house movement, the 1950's case, or both?

I see lot of people recommending the 000 or the 111/112 as the first PAM a newowner should get. Are these thinner and more comfortable than the 312 but have the same case diameter (44mm)?

I'm really into automatic watches and haven't really desired a manual wind watch (yet). Are there PAMs that use the in-house automatic movement but aren't as thick as the 312?

I find the 'Bettarini' case (000, 111, 112 etc) much more comfortable then the 'Fiddy' case (312, 328 etc..) , the 'Fiddy' rides too high on the wrist IMHO

Manual PAM's are in my world the way to go....

I find the 312 very comfortable (wearing mine now). I also own a base and it does wear a bit smaller, but this isn't a big deal for me with an 8" wrist.

The new Pam 338 although a Radiomir houses the automatic 3 day in house movement. Radiomir's sit much flatter on the wrist and appear less bulky because of the absence of the crown guard, and this model is actually 45mm. Should start appearing at the end of autumn.

I think you meant the 388. The 338 is 42mm Rad. I only know this b/c I was looking at a 337 and the 338 is the titanium version.

Thanks for the replies.. I have a 45mm Bulova that is really bulky and I wear it the least because of this. I feel that the 312 might suffer the same fate.

I'll try out the non-1950's cases to see how they feel on my wrist. I think I can get over the fact that they're non-automatic although I don't know how I feel about paying so much for an ETA movement.

My wrist is 6.8" for reference.

comfort i think nothing beats a SUB IMHO...i just recently got a PAM 000 that sits higher but of coz a 000 is thicker...me personally dont seem to have any problem wearing a PAM larger than 44mm/non display case back..so i'll say PAMs are still comfy

if u have a hairy wrist, u will feel the different between wearing a leather or rubber strap and a braclet. Personally I prefer the strap and my 233 is very comfortable

It looks the same to me. Is it the caseback?

Bettarini case is like the one you have ( pam390 )
Fiddy case or 1950 is like 312 or 372, this case will thicker and have side view shape lookalike radiomir

The most comfortable 44mm Luminor is the one with the perfect fitting strap on it.

I've had lots of PAMs, and while I like the way the 312 (and like models) look, they aren't as comfortable to me.

If you want comfortable, get yourself a 44mm Luminor in Titanium! Lighter than Sub :)

I think it's also depends on the movement. The automatics one will be more thicker vs manual case one's.

Most comfortable 44mm IMO is the luminor case in titanium. Sub-C is way more wearable than the 312.

Between the Luminor and the 1950 (233 in my case) case, the Luminor on my small wrists definitely feels more comfortable.

I had the 090 and the case's lugs dug into my the small rounded bone on my wrist. I then purchased the 321 with the 1950's case, and the 321 is SO MUCH for comfortable on my wrist.

So, what the OP should have learned here is, take it for a test drive on the wrist! Only you'll know if it is comfortable. People are conflicting each other here. Answer is......."depends"!

I was in the same boat, ended up with a 312 instead of the Sub C. Although it is taller, I find it comfortable and tend to wear the Pam casually and wear something else with a cuffed shirt. Although I also wear it with a cuffed shirt sometimes as I can't help wanting to look at it in the office!! 1950's case is a work of art.

Its supposed to look big, but in your case its a tough call whether its too big or not. If it were me, I'd probably pick another model (and did...the 177).
