I Need Help Deciding
Wife and I are driving to Portland, Oregon tomorrow morning (3-hour drive) to visit KansaiVet's AD. Wife wants to get me a GMT for our anniversary. My dilemma is this: I like the new style GMT (ceramic bezel, greenie, etc). But the Pepsi looks nice too. Tom's AD is holding a Pepsi for me for a 10% discount and I found two other ADs who have the ceramic model for full price. I already have a black-bezeled sports watch (SS sub date), not sure how "similar" in looks the Sub and black GMT are. I am including a quick poll for your opinion. Thank you so much.

Get the new GMT with all the upgrades. It's a great watch with a great movement. I do like the old style GMT but i can't compare it in beauty with the new GMT. The new GMT is simply phenomenal.

Go with the 16710. There will be plenty of time for the new model.

I've seen the new SS GMT. Personally, I really like my Pepsi. I wear it for a break from the weightier ( 20 grams heavier) Sea Dweller. Light, colourful, just the right amount of bling, dual time zone functionality, easier-to-read red hand and the ability to change out bezel colours. Both are great watches. Buy the one that grabs you. Best of luck with your decision, Chris |

Thank you for your replies and opinions. We are up at 6:00 AM on a Saturday getting ready for the 3-hour drive to Portland, Oregon. Although the poll result is a "mixed" bag, we are leaning towards the Pepsi. Then again, she can change her mind (she's allowed) half way to Portland. I am getting the GMTII and she is getting the LV (not the watch, but purses). There is an LV store two blocks from the AD and how convenient and coincidental can it get. I will post pictures as soon as I can. Thanks again, you're all great!

You have to try both on at the AD. One should standout when sitting on your wrist.
The pepsi is a true classic and would make a nice counter point with your other Rolex. Just a thought and a pic to confuse you more. Good luck, dP

For me the new GMT wins in terms of what it offers by the features, all the upgrades, and I consider it a more contemporary watch.
However, in terms of design, I still always say the Pepsi. The GMT would not be such a classic watch today if it was not for the pepsi look. Overall, I think my vote would still go to the pepsi.

Visually and trying it on are two completely different ways to decide. Visually, the new GMT, but for feel it may be the prior model.
Go try it out and see what feels best.

Get the Pepsi. New. Because someday soon you will not be able to.
Plenty of time later to get the new GMT. |
