Procedure on trading watches?

I am considering transacting some watch business with others on this forum. Obviously, I would only deal with persons who I think are legit, like some that are frequently named on this forum. I was just wondering though, what's the best way to protect yourself when trading watches with another person. How do you decide who first sends their watch to the other party or do you send at the same time, same method? What's the best, proper and legal way to establish proof you sent a watch to someone? Thanks in advance to some of you veterans who do this a lot!!

I was wondering the same thing myself, it seems like you can get easily cheated in these transactions.

1. Send watch or money to unknown person
2. Wait
3. Wait
4. Wait
5. begin to realize you've been had.

Want to avoid this? Trade ( or buy) the seller, and only deal with someone you know has good references. There are many here on TRF.

I'm sure most of them will ask you to send them the watch/money first, since they don't always know exactly who they are dealing with.

Good luck!

Money or watch, it's still money.

Buyer typically sends their watch or money first.

Buy the seller, deal only with a trusted seller.

Write the deal in an email. Ship it with tracking and insured for the watches value. My fear is not theft of the watch, it is that the watch i received has counterfeit inner workings, or after market parts.

If you are trading with the right people, you would not even have to ask....

When trading/buying, I only deal with folks who have a history and consistent track record. When selling, I'll deal with anyone as I only deal in wire transfers.

old saying "buy the seller"
you just gotta feel 100%+ with the person..trading makes the deal very tough...
I only do trades face to face and at my bank or AD...
