Easy way to get the new Rolex past the wife!!
Got past that hurdle yesterday by telling her that I am saving lots of money by not having to buy batteries!!!! ( and she isn't a blonde!!!)
How did the rest of you do it? |

I tell my girl friend that when she can spent a lot of money on a bloody HORSE (which will die some day), I cannot see what's wrong with spending some money on a Rolex which will last me a lifetime.

She must be using damn big batteries if she believes that! Maybe those experimental tritium based laptop batteries that weigh 72 kilo and supposedly last a life time, for a laptop of 3 kilo |

She says now I might shut up going on about them all the time !! You'd think after 16 years of being together - she would know me better than that !! |

Aw, c'mon, guys. Do all of us women behave that way? When my husband bought his Rolex, I was not only intrigued, but I figured it opened the door for some kind of nice treat for myself in the future! Hee hee - and that nice treat was a Rolex for myself, which he no doubt thinks is a wiser purchase than some diamond that doesn't DO anything. Now, I did think it somewhat silly when he impulsively bought a multi-thousand dollar Cevalo bicycle after watching the Tour de France. He's ridden it twice around the block and it will now sit in the garage gathering dust next to his old Colnago. Best bet is to keep my mouth shut - we may not always agree on what expensive trinkets floats our boats. I think on some level of consciousness we try to keep the purhases somewhat even between us, though neither or us is terribly extravagant. As long as there's enough to feed the kids and save for college and retirement, the rest is for fun and living life.

My wife has made a point of learning a great deal about watches and value versus cost (the latter because she is an accountant). I think that it is a question of survival and sanity for her!
Having said the above, she's really good at talking through each potential purchase with me on its own merits, which really helps me when considering something. And she loves watches also. There's an implied quid pro quo, but she is patient (much moreso than me) so it all evens out in the end. As it is, she loves wine, so we have a rather large wine cellar that is constantly being refreshed! The next watch we're buying is a Rolex for her ... James

Not all women but many!
All kidding aside, we tend to speak this way on here all the time but nobody means what he says When push comes to shove we all know who makes the world turn, do we? |

Mrs Jedi and I love Rolexes. I'm so glad she's finally come around to her senses and declared her Cartiers pretty little things without much heart.
For example, we walked into our local AD here in North Borneo thinking we were just going to get my Sub's bracelet looked at (and for my weekly private session with the watchmaker, incidentally the owner of the AD'ship). She tried on a couple of watches, the SS/PT YM and Explorer and SD... and we walked out with a new EXP II. Think I've finally found THE ONE... Postscript: She spent the better part of the day talking about the new Milgauss with her old AD in Singapore. Reckons we can get one each (non-green crystal AND green crystal) for about USD12,000.00 total. TOO COOL!!! |

At first the wife was not into Rolex watches, after I bought one for me, I bought one for her, then I bought another one for her before I bought another one for me. Now she is a Rolex spotter, and she always has her eye out for one. Now she has grown to appreciate her rolex watches, especially after putting diamond bezels on them etc....

I told my wife I'll buy a Tag. She told me why buy a Tag? Why not a Rolex. So I sped up and got a Rolex right away. She wanted me to have the best as long as we can afford it.

My wife saved up and bought me my Rolex for my fortieth birthday.
I waited twelve years for her fortieth birthday and reciprocated. So, we both have Rolexes, and hers looks so nice on her wrist. |

About the soul-mate, I consider myself one of the most LUCKIEST man on the planet. Anything I want (clothes, cars & motorcycle etc..), I only need to tell her & she'll get it for me. It's rare when I want things though. Except my TOG, I got it by myself just after 2 days I told her that I want it. When she saw it, she said: "Why don't you wait until the weekend so I'll get it for you." It's strictly pure love, it's not about money or anything else. Matter of fact, she's now making a lot more money than I do. I think that our case is very rare, especially nowadays. A lot of times I say: "I don't know how a king is treated but know for sure that I have been treated more than a king since day 1 w/ my soul-mate." That's my story. |
