How Impressive
To see how honored this Forum is on the Top 50 site list is amazing to me, and makes me proud. I remember scrambling over to this kinder place a few years back, and this was just an infant baby getting nutrition little by little. The founders and mods and managers of this Forum have done miraculous things in this short period of time...All I can say is WOW!

It's a team effort, and the biggest part are the players, all the good guys and gals that are the members right here (and all the moderators of course)

Well, don't mean to sound negative, but does not mean much. Some independant site puts up a listing of the top 50 watch sites, and most all the sites are for selling watches.
Now, if TRF was in the Top 50 of "All Forum Sites", then I would be impressed, and number 7 then that would be amazing. I do like this forum and think, as you can tell the number of post I have, to one of the best and the forum I most frequent to pass the boredom away. But, the ranking means nothing. |

You'd be right in saying that rankings aren't the be-all-and-end all, but I reckon they do mean something. We never set out to be the biggest forum in the known universe, but the ranking does show that we're pretty goddam lively. I'm glad you pointed out how we're beating the sales sites that happen to be in the ranking system as well - it means that we've got more people coming in repeatedly to browse and post than sites that simply get people in to buy something and then bugger off. I've been on massive forums that have more than 500 sub-fora covering everything from pasta recipes to what perverts do with underwear - they're full of crap. If quantity's all it takes to impress you, suit yourself, but folks here are talking quality. By your reasoning, Casio would be the greatest watch maker in the world.

Considering there's 7 Billion people on this third rock from the sun, and there are thousands of forums and internet watch sales sites within thie world.
For this one site to be in the top 50, and recognized as such by an independent data based compilation.... That's pretty damn good....and the fact that you're here reading this is nothing less than a technnological miracle... Congratulations to all of you for this... |

I was suprised to not see www.timezone.com in the make up and wonder if their site was purposedly left out. As that site gets way more visitors than www.watchuseek.com which was rated number one.
TRF is also pretty large, where a lot of other forums are more specialized. I would be interested in seeing a rating of only the Watch Forum sites, and leaving out all the watch buying sites. Well, if the creators/founders of this site took offense, I apologize. As I said TRF is a great site as far as forums go, but I personally could care less if TRF is rated number 1 or number 100. TRF is not only a watch only site as well, there are many different areas on TRF besides watches. That is what probably makes it more interesting to many TRF members, as you can discuss more than just watches. And yes, in many way both in quantity and quality, Casio probably is the greatest watch maker in the world! (They just do not make fine swiss mechanical watches! ) Also, the rating says it is based on number of votes recieved. So who is doing the voting? There was a big difference between the number one ranked www.watchuseek.com with 14,966 votes compared to TRF with only around 2900 votes. Now I would say for Rolex related Forums, TRF does come out number 1. |

It's not a case of the founders taking offense, Chad, but the tone of your post did put a damper on things, and as Steve pointed out, it started out as a positive thread. Some days a "yes, but ..." is just out of place.

Hey, I was impressed with this forum until you guys let me become a member! Knowing a little about search engines and the mystery behind rankings; I can tell you that you guys have come a long way in a VERY short period of time and should be proud.

TRF is indeed an impressive place.
I've managed to make friends with people all over the world, learn a bunch and have a lot of laughs along the way. I don't care where we're ranked. This forum is Number 1 in my book. So a big shout out to everyone who makes it all possible. Thanks!
