When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse Out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now, The child is grown, The dream is gone.

Is the sky blye and the grass green..???
I saw Roger Waters at the Hollywood Bowl last year and it was an experience I will never forget. I am "too young" to have seen the complete band the first time around, but Nick Mason was there so, 66% isn't too bad. I have all the CD's and DVD's and my wife has slowly found the same appreciation for Floyd as I have... Shine on you crazy diamond.... |

"There is no dark side of the Moon really. As a matter of fact, it's all dark!" - spoken by Gerry Driscoll, Abbey Road Studios' Irish doorman during the recording time of Dark Side of the Moon and part of the spoken background in the cut "The Great Gig in the Sky".
Superior stuff, that!

You shout in your sleep.
Perhaps the price is just too steep. Is your conscience at rest If once put to the test? You awake with a start To just the beating of your heart. Just one man beneath the sky, Just two ears, just two eyes. |

A great Gilmour song, inspired by Arthur C. Clarke's novel of the same name, on a great album, Obscured by Clouds! The band was already working on Dark Side of the Moon at this time...

Great stuff from The Wall - and its VERA Lynn. She was a British vocalist whose career flourished during World War II, and remains very nostalgic to many to this day. The reference comes during the protagonist's remembrances of childhood and the bombing of London by the Luftwaffe. Potent stuff!

June 28, 1975. Ivor Wynn Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. 1 of 3 Canadian performances in a N.A. tour. I was there. Haven't missed one in T.O. since, including the first after the breakup with 2 fans parading around with a huge banner proclaiming "Roger Waters Is A Dic!". They got standing ovations.
As an aside, I was at the very first Beatles concert in Toronto, in the now gone Maple Leaf Gardens, in 1964. Yup, I'm that old. They could have been playing God Save The Queen for the whole concert for all I could tell, Beatlemania was at it's peak and the screaming was that loud! Trivia question: Which was the only venue to host all 3 Beatles North American tours?

Just a guess - without resorting to Google: The Forum in Montreal? Maybe the Hollywood Bowl. I'd like to have seen the TML at Maple Leaf Gardens back in the day - that's for sure! |

BTW, my wife and I witnessed the Stones on THEIR 1964 tour. Never got to see the Beatles live - more's the pity!

By the way, you saw the best one ever. Remember the jet down the wire that blew up in the huge fireball at the stage? Scared the bejeepers out of me!
