This 1950s NOS vintage leather strap on a vintage 1970s Air King blue?

Hi all,

On a vintage 1970s Air King blue, I find a croc strap too dark for my taste, and something like a Hirsch aligator in mid-brown too light coloured, so was looking online for a handmade Italian strap, but while looking, I came across a strap maker in London called "Toshi".

A quick look on his site revealed that he's found some limited edition 1950s NOS vintage leather, and I was wondering whether using this with blue stitching would work to give a modern edge to a classic piece:

Cost is around £120/$190.

How about using a Rolex buckle too, or is this whole idea off-base and inappropriate for this piece?

For reference, a 1970s vintage Air King blue:

Thanks

First of all, you would need a 19mm strap, so that would rule out using a Rolex buckle (most of these are 16mm, designed for tapered straps). It probably wouldn't look bad, though, but I prefer non-perforated straps.
