John Mayer's new Gold Sub

I've always heard that John Mayer's a big Rolex fan. I was just on his blog and he posted a pic of his newest aquisition - a solid gold Submariner with blue dial! Here's a pic of his new watch. You can read his blog here if you'd like, he talks about the watch a little bit. http://johnmayer.com/blog

Cool! Yeah he's quite the watch collector. I remember reading that the first real watch he ever purchased was a red/black GMT. Or was it pepsi. . .
Regardless, it was a Rolex.

That's the same watch my dad owns. Has had it since 1992... Sweet looking, but don't buy one if you plan on wearing every day. My dad did, and now it doesn't look like what's in the picture.. :( He has since picked up three others to keep in his rotation.

Interestingly enough, my dad's was one of the watches that had the dial turn purple. He had the dial replaced under warranty for a normal blue dial. In retrospect, he should have kept it the way it was..

It's interesting to note that John Mayer has done quite a bit of work with Eric Clapton, another well-known Rolex wearer.

Beautiful "Nipple" dial!

He sure knows how to pick watches! Very tasteful Sub!

Love the watch, hate the dial. I could have found him two just like it in under 15 minutes. I just would have needed to make two phone calls.

On the Crossroads album John wear either a Sub or a YM. BB King wears an 18kt DD, Eric Clapton wears a PN Daytona on a leather strap, Jimmy Vaughan wears a Rolex and so do several other blues guys. BTW, super concert album also. =) maverick
