What are your thoughts on Benarus Watches???

I am looking to get a piece under $1K. What do you think of the Sea Snake by Benarus. Here's a link to the watch I am talking about:

http://www.benaruswatches.com/ourwatches/seasnake.php

I know they are not fancy like my APs but kinda liked that particular one.

Good looking diver, eta 2824, SS bracelet and rubber strap all for under 1K... great find, However, it may be a little large at 44mm (but that may include the crown, since bezel is 42mm). Post a pic when you get it!

A bit big for my wrists but I like the look of it, I'm sure it would fit a man with bigger arms perfectly.

Go for it Hal!

I think I might. I've been wanting a simple watch for those occasions when you shouldn't be wearing a fancy one. Now, yesterday I walked into Barney's and found the new model for the Brera Orologi watch line and there's one I liked. Is the Acqua-Diver. http://breraorologi.com/watches-for-...iver/braqs4802

The cool thing about this watch is that there's a large amount of a silicone oil encapsulated in between the dial and the crystal. Quite interesting. The only thing I dislike is that is a Quartz and Miyota. Here are some shots I took.

What are your thoughts???

Looks like I am almost 100% sure about getting the Benarus. Which one would you get? The Sea Snake with oange minute hand or with regular hands?

The orange hand looks great but I think I would have preferred to see the second hand with such a color. I find it somewhat odd that the special looking one isn't moving that much.

I think I would go with the regular one but both look quite nice to be honest.

I think they tried to copy IWC's Aquatimer where the minute hand is yellow. I am not sure if I might get tired of the orange hand in the long run. I want to be able to wear it with everything without looking too too sporty.

Well in my book different colors in a watch give it a sportier look. Of course, that remains my opinion but if you want a more versatile watch I think (again, personally) that you would be better with the white hands!

Thanks for your help Carl. I am so freakin' indecisive when it comes to pulling the trigger.

It's always a pleasure to help Hal! Just make sure that you buy a watch you will personally enjoy!

For what it's worth, I would pick the sea snake with black dial and polished hands. There's nothing to balance the orange minute hand, so it looks like an after thought. Also, the sea snake looks much nicer than the Brera (IMHO)... good luck!

I like the Benarus, Hal and I think it's a great idea to have something like this in the stable. I assume you've taken a look at Marathon? The SAR I bought a few years ago fills this niche quite well for me. It's nice to have one that can get knocked around a bit and I genuinely like the look and feel of it. The Sea Snake looks pretty darn good, particularly at that price point.
