San Fran

Okay everyone, I'm going to San Fran on 10th/11th of Nov for a week or so, so if possible, please provide:

A list of must see sights/things to do.

A list of good RSCs that may have a bargain or two.

That's it. Then I'm off to Vegas - driving down the coast (then banking left! ) - for a week after that....

Cheers!

I've only been to San Fran once for a stop-over between Vancouver and Dallas and loved it. Since I didn't stay very long, all I saw was the Fishermen's Wharf, Chinatown, the Golden Gate bridge and just walked around. I need to go back one of these days. Enjoy your trip.

Deffinately go down to Pier 39/ Fishermans Wharf.

I would check out the Explatorium/Palace of Fine Arts

Perhaps do a tour of Alcatraz Island

The large Catamaran "Adventure Cat" out of Pier 39 does sunset sails under the Golden Gate Bridge--much more fun than walking across it.

Check out Little Italy

Stay out of Hunters Point

Oh and as for AD's with a reliable discount for cash? Only one I've found is in downtown Santa Cruz--Dell Williams

Hey AJ, if you have a chance, please drop by these two Glashütte Original ADs and see if they have a GMT in stock. Take a look at it and tell me what you think.

Shapur

Telephone: 415-392-1200

Tourneau
845 Market Street, Space 129
San Francisco, CA 94103
Telephone: 415-974-1846

Be sure to bring warm clothes as in lots of layers. As Mark Twain once said, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco." And summer just ended here.

And if you're into Chinese food, check out Chinatown.

Better bring your walking shoes; there's a lot to see there.

Have a great trip!

Thanks everyone for chiming in! The time draws near the and the AUD/USD FX rate is almost at parity! Am I stoked or what? Have my fingers crossed that I'll pick up an awesome new 'lex whilst over there since you guys have such reasonable prices and our dollar is so close to yours. YEE-HA!!! WG Daytona? YG Prez? SD?

Will def. stop in and check out the Glashutte for you Downing - although I think they have one in my AD here so may go check that out too.

Go to the Beuna Vista Cafe at the Fisherman's Wharf end of the cable car line, and have an Irish Coffee or 2. Great view, great coffee. Book tickets to Beach Blanket Babalon, which is a current events comedy play with crazy costumes and excellent writing. I heard it is one of/or the longest running play in North America. Saw it about 30 years ago, then saw it 3 years ago, and it was even better. Take the ferry over to Tiburon. Go for dinner at Scoma's on Fisherman's Wharf......last time I was there, it was a floating building. Of course, ride the cable car from one end to the other.
Hope this helps. Have a great time in a great city.
