Went to an AD yesturday.
I went to an AD to look at the Dayjust yesturday. The owmer showed me several models and dials. He put a few on my wrist and boy it was so hard and not take it home with me. He told me that he couldn't discount the watch but would throw in a watch winder when I choose to buy which is fine with me since I wanted to buy one anyway. He also gave me his cell if I had any questions to call him. The only problem is I don't know if I want a silver or white dial watch. So please let me know what you think. I was also surprised that the owner told me to take my time and buy the one I realy want. Then he said laughing that once I have one I will probobly want another in the future. Take care guys.

The watch that I want is a SS Datejust with a jubilee braclet and 18k white gold.

The DJ is the easiest Rolex for a AD to discount. That he will not offer you a discount is not good. A watch winder? I say get at least 10% off or walk.
Sorry. Don't kill the messenger, but this is not a good deal. |

I would go for a DJ 116234, EXACTLY like this one:
But, sorry, as Tom says, the deal is He is very right! 10 % discount is pretty much standard on a model like this one at most AD's, so I would put a bit of pressure on him and say that you will have a "look around" for better deals. Good luck!

Englewood jewelers. Let me know if you need something and I'll introduce you to the owner, not a salesmen.

Thanks for the info guys. I will be giving him a call back tomorrow. I am leaning towards the silver dial myself.

The datejust is actually one watch that I wouldn't purchase from an AD. To the points the other folks have made, they're easy to get, easy to get discounts on. They also take sizable depreciation hits when purchased new from an AD.
I'd go to a grey market dealer on something like that. |
