Cycling what do you ride and wear?

well think I need to work out more and cycling seems to be the way I am leaning towards . Been shopping for a Cannondale urban type of mountain bike for the trails and pavement . Now what watch to wear expensive or plastic ..any cyclist here? what do you ride and wear?

My ride: ti/ carbon LeMond. My watch:none But my bike wears a Shimano Flight Deck.

Always questioned what these bike seats can do over time to our testicles in health hazards! Any special gear/underwear out there?

An ill fitting bike and/ or saddle can make legs, toes, and other regions go numb after a period of time which can, in severe circumstances, lead to possible problems. However, a proper bike fit as well as appropriate components that work for your anatomy should alleviate any issues.

Please be careful to all you who cycle.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but it makes me feel so bad to see young healthy people injured so terribly.

Last year we had a local cyclist get his tire stuck on a bridge and he suffered a C2 fracture and now he is a paraplegic. Last week a very good friend of mine suffered the same injury. He was lucky and he can move everything,but remains in the ICU.

Just PLEASE be careful my TRF friends!!!

Young father in an affluent MA community was just killed on his bike by someone who wasn't paying attention. It was a clear August day, great day for a ride, now he's gone. I've given up motorcycles and bicycles for the exact same reason. You can't control other drivers and they are all potential killers.

Only a month ago at 7:30 AM on a Sunday (that's AM!) a young woman, a teacher and mother, was hit on the shoulder of the road and killed as she rode her bike. She was hit by a motorcyclist heading home from an all night bender. He was playing chicken with his girlfriend who was driving her friend's car, also drunk. He was attempting to pass her on the right shoulder and never saw the young woman on her bike. He struck her and pushed her into the path of his girlfriends car. Neither driver had a valid driver's license. He had only recently been released from prison for a previous DWI.
You can't be careful enough. Very sad to lose a contributor to a community and these two live on.

Not a rant! It just shows you what drinking does! Never drank, never will! That's why these things almost never happen in our neck of the woods! Just too hot to cycle here

I have a 1989 Bridgestone MB2, old school MTB, Ishiwata triple butted cromoly steel, lugged, 21 speed, Shimano drive train, Mavic wheels, Koski fork.......I wear a Casio G-Shock watch.

I've got a Specialized Allez, had it for 4yrs or so now.. Been thinking about getting a Speed Concept or a Cervelo P3 once we move into the new house.

For watches I have Garmin 305 and a 310... Always liked them for running, so I choose to use them on the bike as well in place of a computer.

This is my old faithful - its a Giant bike - models a Sierra. Must have had for nearly 17 years now. Weather & daylight permitting try to get on the cycle path most days. I'm done more thinking on this bike than I care to remember.

I'm defo at the bottom end of the bike fashion gear scale. Old trainers, joggers & a t-shirt for me or an old fleece

Beautiful trail. It looks like my bike route over here in the States. I ride a Specialized Sirrus Elite. Nothing fancy, but it's a great cross training and commuting bike. I wear water proof cycling gear during fall and winter. Other than that, it's just my regular workout clothes.

depends what you are riding for.

I tend to favor Pearl Izumi gear for off road, and for Tris I usually go with Zoot shorts and singlets. For off road I am a huge fan of pricepoint.com for discount jerseys.

Never really cared for the jerseys with the names of 'sponsors' on them, they look a little silly to me, so I usually wear just a 'Nike-Pro Hypercool Crew' t-shirt. It's ventilated on both sides and down the back as well. They stay nice and cool, dry fast, and if you're worried about visibility, come in a number of bright colors.

I've also taken to wearing polyester performance shorts (9 inch) under a regular pair of shorts instead of the heavier, traditional cycling shorts. I find this combination to breathe much better and results in a much more comfortable ride. You give up the built in the padding in the tush but let's face it, that's just for weekenders anyway. If you ride a lot, once you get used to your saddle, you don't need any padding.

I would never settle for "none". I'd keep searching until I find that perfect well made, strong watch that would take the odd fall. Otherwise, any water-resistant or shock-proof will certainly do. From an Adidas watch, to an IWC Ceramic bezel!

Kestrel rt800 with 105s. I wear whatever is comfortable with Sidi shoes. I wear Rolex, Omega, Seiko, and G Shock when I hit the pavement.

I have an old Trek Y11, similar to the one in the photo. Only changes have been brake pads and semi slick tires as I don't ride on trails much. It is a neat bike, makes a kind of whirring sound when you ride it. I keep it inside, waxed and clean, so it is really holding up well. I ride wearing my GMT Master II, for which I am thinking I will get the Rubber B strap and source a real Rolex clasp. The GMT in this mode will really look tough, and makes for a great swim watch as well!

I can't tell you how many times I've come close to being crushed, hit, clipped, bumped by stupid drivers on cell phones, yahoos getting there kicks throwing things out windows, or just idiots cussing me out for being on the road. But we have helmet cams now. I ride an old Bianchi 1885 (7 yrs. old). Enjoy but be careful out there. Be selective with which path you ride.

....the blue and white Colnago now has normal road bars as I am no longer competing, makes more sense to have a standard set-up now....I've only ever worn team kit, I have never worn a jersey with any company name or logo that didn't sponsor me....DP is right....bikes need to be set up correctly anatomically speaking....as for other road users, keep your eyes peeled and your ears open....make eye contact with other road users whenever possible....if you make eye contact you know they know you're there....

Die hard Specialized fan !!

In a matter of a year I went from Epic Expert 29,Stumpjumper FSR 26 and Roubaix to an incoming Stumpjumper FSR 29 and a Limited Edition Tarmac Sworks Olympic red.
I think I'm pretty much done with the big red S anyway,moving to Trek and Santa Cruz for my next purchases

Currently that's what's in my garage,waiting for my Stumpy FSR 29 to be delivered hopefully by next week...

Roubaix Expert 2012 with uprgraded Dura Ace C24 wheels.
Let me also add my limited edition Tarmac olympic red frame,delivery due by jan 2013. Only 250 pcs were made and my country will only get 20 of them. I love it and I'm very proud of it.
