I just saw the Tudor Pelagos in the metal at an AD in France, and it feels like an exceptionally high quality piece, with the most precise 60 click bezel I have ever experienced. The all matte dial, ceramic bezel, case and bracelet finish does make for an exceptionally understated watch.

The AD offered the watch for 2800 EUR = 3637 USD after taking into account the tax refund, and I'm not sure how good of a deal that is on the watch. I'm also a bit conflicted, since I already have a Rolex Ceramic No Date Submariner, and being nothing more than a desk diver, perhaps the Tudor Pelagos is too much of a tool watch for me. Hmm... choices.

Honestly, I think you have your bases covered in the dive watch department, it might more the novelty of the Pelagos that is getting to you.

With the Submariner already in your war chest, you might consider a GMT of some sort

Good to hear the feedback of a first hand experience with the watch.

It is one nice watch and based on your quite refined collection it would fill the dive buff military work watch category. You would get a 42mm titanium watch with a bezel that looks like the JLC Navy Seals with the matte ceramic insert, no cyclops for a beautiful face. Then with arguably the most advanced diving bracelet made (adjusting to wrist as a function of depth), well it is pretty awesome particularly if you love divers. So to sum up.. military look, 42mm, titanium, no cyclops, and the most advanced diving bracelet available.... yes.

PS. Your VC Overseas is one of the nicest watches I have ever owned. I miss it big time!

IMHO a VERY nice watch at a good price. Still it's expensive for a Tudor with an ETA mvt that puts it very close in price to watches with better movements and finishing. That said ill be very happy to own one once prices decrease and demand lowers.

I liked it at first but am not so sure now that I've discovered that the white pearl at the 12 o'clock position on the bezel is simply painted on...

PS Then again, I'm not a diver and yes, I'm shallow - to me, looks are everything!

After owning the pelagos for a month I have to say that I'm still loving it in the honeymoon phase! That's a great price... $5k less than a Sub Date for the same accuracy and first class features for a tool watch. However, you already have a Sub, so you have to ask yourself if you would wear both. My collection is small, so I like all of my pieces to be different. Good problem to have and good luck :)

It seems like you love it, and the price is more than right. Go for it I say. If you change your mind you can probably sell easily without losing money considering the deal. There might be some redundancy, right, but who cares :)

The dial is and looks too plasticky for me, and reminds me too much of a kids Flik Flak.

Although the black matte ceramic bezel is marvelous, this adds to the 'plastic' look.

That's just my stupids thoughts anyway. Apart from this , I do agree it IS a marvellous piece.

I tried the Tudor Pelagos and I have to say that it is a great watch (also from a dimension point of view

) at a very good price, IMO.

At the end I decided to go with the Tudor Balck Bay because I already have the SubC, but anyway the Pelagos is a watch that deserves a lot of attention !

NDc and pelagos are sufficiently different. just depends on if you like the pelagos enough on its own merit.

Ti is such a great material for watches. I have two in Ti and love them. They gain a nice dark grey patina over time and are not scratch magnets. Plus the ceramic bezel with lume is awesome. 'd go for it and like you said, you can always flip it.
