Taking pictures at ADs

I've seen a lot of wrist shots and pictures of Rolexes behind the glass at ADs on TRF. Do ADs really not mind these pictures being taken?

I know the Rolex store in Chicago doesn't allow photos.

Are they really going to risk offending a potential customer?
They might think its annoying but jam sure they don't want to lose out

You just have to ask and be polite about it. Usually they won't have a problem.

Most seem to be ok with you taking wrist shots as you may come back and purchase afer pondering how the watch looks on you.

Tons of "stakeout" photos of whats in various cases might not go over well.

I asked very politely at an AD in Raleigh NC a month ago and they told me 'no'.

Wanted a wrist shot of a DD President with diamond lugs - insanely handsome - one of my grails. Supposedly 'for insurance reasons'

Oh well no big deal.

Raleigh is smallball (im in charlotte nc which is smallball as well) im shocked they said no. Are they really gonna pssoff the buyer of the one rolex per month they sell?

the one advantage of the smallball towns is first crack at everything new.

I just put them on my wrists then ask if I can snap a pic to salivate over. Never been asked not to.

My AD doesn't mind at all. In fact, he likes it when I show up with my camera.

That's Ron Beauchamp himself showing off his watch while I take a wrist shot with a Daytona.

A Rolex gala in progress

Jordan Fiklin, the watchmaker, and a pretty saleslady posing with the box containing my new DJ

Me posing with a couple of new Explorer II watches. That's my Explorer on the counter.

Beauchamp Jewelers is home to some of the nicest sales staff you'll find on the planet.

They seem so genuinely friendly and helpful. Places like this are sadly disappearing, thank you for posting this.

Once an AD encouraged me to take a picture of a gold Daytona on my wrist, and it was I who politely declined!

Some some the AD's DO mind, some don't... I always ask politely first.

I know of one AD chain that doesn't allow people taking pics of the window displays:

WEMPE

Their security guards don't allow picture taking... regardless if you ask for permission or not.

i've always asked, sometimes yes, sometimes no. don't mind the rejection, though, since the only reason i want to take a picture is to share it on TRF.

Most of the ADs where I am are dying to get you into the shops and many of the sales reps actually push you try on the watches as part of their sales tactic. So taking a few pics has never a problem in my personal experience.

Plese note, your experience may differ.

i don't know if its the truth, but i think a lot of ads judge people when they walk in, and what watch is on your wrist when you ask to try something on. clearly, if you had a tag heuer on your wrist when you ask to try on say a all gold daytona and take a pic, they will probably decline. but if you took a all gold daytona off your wrist to try one a different rolex, chances are they will say sure, take as many pics as you have.

that and most people will remember if you are actually one of their clients, i've had no problems taking pics of a daytona on my wrist as well as some others, because i was waiting to take deliver of a 116619lb i just purchased.
