Bracelet for my '68 GMT Master
Hi everyone,
My '68 GMT Master has a 78360 bracelet which I understand is too late for it. I've seen this on eBay and would appreciate your comments please. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/vie...id=93345206706 Thanks for any help you can offer. |

The 78360 is fine and probably sturdier.
The one on the auction looks fine as well but it does not specify the year of production. It only specifies that it is from the early 70's. |

A C+I would be great!

For that year it should be a 7206 rivet bracelet with 58 end links. The one in the auction is wrong. There are some C&I that would be period correct as well.

I would be very patient, as I have found that being a year or two off, while close, still leaves me looking for that proper year. For daily wear, I prefer the 78360, for show or special occasions, I swap out to the older jubilee or C&I. |

Just to jump in, I can't remember exactly but could this bracelet at this age not also come with 280 or 380 end links?

I totally agree with what you've said about the year and I've decided to wait until I can find a '68. Unless a C&I is really cool instead....(someone please tell me what a C&I is :-) ) Giles Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

C an I is a bracelet made by a company in the USA, they made them in a rivett oyster style, they are a product of the taxes impossed at the time importing into USA, rolex contractracted, (licenesed) a few other companies to make the bands in the USA to avoid these taxes.. C & I was one of these companies. JB another.

The band does not have to be dated 1968 to be correct. While your serial number might indicate 1968 production, the case back could be stamped 1969, 1970 or possibly 1967. Further, the date on the band would correspond to whenever the band was produced. It is anybody's guess how long bracelets were around the factory before they were placed on a watch.

One or two years either way should work just fine.
