Icon2 READ if you sell on eBay

Ebay sellers, add this buyer to your 'blocked list:

iconic_horology

The guy is no good, he has addresses in both US and Columbia, and will attempt to defraud you. His full name is Luis Alberto Avia Uloa, above is his user ID. He slipped through the cracks to leave me a negative (which ebay is doing NOTHING about, even though I laid the case out for them in plain English), don't let it happen to you. I will disclose details of the 'deal gone bad' in private, as this is an open forum.

David, I may be following that strategy shortly myself. I paid them over $32k in fees THIS YEAR ALONE, and they offer no protection to me as a seller.

Thanks for sharing the info. I would put the guy on blast here anyway regardless if this is a public forum or not. Scum deserves to be exposed.
I hope you get it all worked out

All of us will be sorry to hear this , but how many are surprised ?
Greg , you are obviously high volume seller and mathematically you are more exposed then the average from time to time seller on Ebay .
Ebay and Paypal policies facilitate everything for the corrupt buyer where most people think the seller will rip you off .
A buyer ripped me off years ago when the paypal policies were less in favor for buyers then they seem now . I can imagine that many honest sellers prefer to stop selling or at least accepting Paypal . The irony is that it is the seller pays the fees so the buyer can rip them off in all "legality"
Ebay rules the market place and owns paypal , this gives them some sort of monopoly .

Well - the guys hasn't ripped me off, I wouldn't allow it. Came out fairly 'unscathed', only with a negative feedback. Working on getting that removed as well.

Ebay, as always, has dropped a ball on this one.

1) they allowed him to contact me directly somehow (my email is not listed ANYWHERE in the ad), and now cannot use that communication as evidence.

2) Columbia is one of my 'do not ship to' countries, but since that guy also has an address in US, he was able to bid on my item, even though the 'ship to' address was in Columbia

The buyer was very nice and professional at first. Was even able to appeal to my 'kind side' by constantly wishing my family and I 'Happy Holidays', being very kind and polite, and an overall 'charmer'. Luckily, ParcelPro saved me from a $7000 loss. They absolutely refused to insure the parcel, and when I told him I wasn't going to ship uninsured, his real personality came across. He became threatening and desperate. I stuck to my guns, refunded his payment, at which point it became evident that it was the right decision - as the liar in him came through. The feedback he left me indicated that he received the watch, inspected it, and deemed it was a 'franken' - but he never saw it in person, as I never shipped. Upon further research, this is his modus operandi - he has done this to other sellers as well. I am in communication with another seller who is amidst a dispute with him.

So, the scammer's email is [email protected], but he also uses several others:

[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

He goes by "LOU AVI" or "Luis Alberto Avia Uloa", but his paypal payment came from "Ana Jurcan"

Flag all of the info above, and stay vigilant, my friends

First : glad to hear that you are not out of pocket on this affair , but I can understand that you are furious to have gotten an undeserved negative feedback.
"herewegoagain69 "was his Ebay name before he changed it . I'm always weary when I find users that changed their name . They mostly have something to hide .
Greg , are you sure it was Ebay that gave him your direct contact ? You have a webpage that bears the same name as your Ebay account which provides many ways to contact you .
This has everything of a person that has nothing to hide .

I wish some of these losers would spend more time on making a honest living then trying to rip everyone else off. I just don't get some people in the world today

When someone pays via paypal on an eBay sale, email gets exposed via paypal.

Hey Greg,

I can see he has done the same thing to two other people on panerai items, username
fountainheadreserves and 10yahya10.

As for eBay I am thinking of only accepting echeck from now on but not sure if this is allowed by ebay or if it is even safe.

Yes, I saw. I'm actually working on with them right now. Also, turns out I can make it really difficult for him to cross the border back into US. Oh, sweet internet, how I love you :)

Greg, I glad to hear you didn't get ripped off, but I hope eBay makes this right by striking the neg feedback. I see that his feedback is marked private. That seems like a red flag too. Its all too easy to set up some fake ebay sales for positive feedback, since you cant see the actual 99cent auctions used to do it. I'm not letting anyone with private feedback bid on my auctions.

Sorry to hear this Greg. I have a very similar story regarding a ebay transaction and a scumbag scammer. I was never paid, yet the scammer was able to leave me negative feedback. I went through hours of conversation with ebay reps. They would agree with me and stated the feedback was unjust. They would erase the feedback, and within a hour the feedback was back. This happened at least 6 different times. I really felt like I was on a episode of punked. In the end the negative feedback was put back, and I don't sell on ebay anymore. I hope you get the feedback reversed, you may have a better shot seeing you give them a lot of money. However don't hold your breathe, common sense is not their strong suit..

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. Getting a negative, one out of 2500+ transactions - I can live with. Sending a watch to the scammer and getting screwed out of $7k - that would have been a tougher pill to swallow.

Still , I can imagine the customers that bought from you in the past read this particular negative feedback : I'd expect some chasing windmills by having their movements checked out .

That's OK, little reassurance can go a long way

I think it is unjust that a seller is now unable to give negative feedback to a buyer. I have seen sellers leave positive feedback for a bad buyer, hoping someone may see it, but the comment is something like "Do not trust, did not pay... "
