7835 Oyster Bracelet Question

Hello all. I was gifted an early 70s air king and decided to pick up a 7835 stainless bracelet to match to it. My wife decided she wants to wear it so I took it to the jeweler (non-Rolex) to get it fitted to her. At first it was too loose, and now it is much too tight. The jeweler is claiming all he can do is to add/remove links, and the vintage 7835 (despite having what appear to be sizing adjustment holes on the clasp) cannot be precisely fitted. Of course the fix would be to let him sell me a newer adjustable bracelet. Am i crazy, or cant the bracelet be more accurately sized than simply adding or removing links?

I don't see why you canot adjust the clasp. It's there precisely to make sub-link adjustments. In any case many of us do not wear our 7836s and substitute them for 93,150s for daily wear. 7836 rattles a lot and is not nice to wear, and watch looks fake to the non-initiated.

adjust the clasp yourself, get a toothpick, as wood will not scratch the steel. Put you finger over the top as you slide the springbar out as the can spring away, and somehow never be found again.
