Corum Admirals Cup Leap Second 48 Chronograph

Hey everyone,

My cousin just bought this watch. I have no idea about Corum as a watch. What do you all think of the movement and the brand in general. Would this be a good collector's watch?

I believe it's the CO 171 movement, not sure if this a true in-house movement or a base-ETA that has "in-house" finishing. The MSRP is around 10K, I wouldn't pay that because it doesn't speak to me. However it's a sharp piece and all that matters is that you or your cousin is happy with it. Enjoy

I found out that the movement is actually a CO-895 movement developed in collaboration with La Joux Perre. La Joux Perre seems to have an ETA type set up where they develop movements for 10s of watch brands. I don't know how much value this takes away from the actual movement of this watch.

My cousin told me he bought this watch and i was trying to determine if it is a good choice he made based on quality etc. He believes it retails around the $20K mark (its a limited edition of 750), although he got it for less than $8K BNIB.

I always thought Corum is a fashion brand and never took them seriously but maybe its bit more than that but not in the higher leagues of watch brands, probably not even on the level of Rolex?

I really like their watches and have an admirals cup. Love their shapes although lately their watches have been getting a bit bigger in size - 48mm ?

Their titanium bridge is an exquisite watch - very refined. While not as big a name as some others, it certainly is a well known brand in watch circles.

An excellent timekeeper, COSC, good presentation, attractive timepiece, and most importantly, I like wearing mine. It comes out sometimes and I do like the way it feels on the wrist. Isn't that what matters ?
