No Super Bowl Talk Yet?

It's my Baltimore Ravens vs the San Fancisco 49ers, another physical, AFC North-style team. I love how they came back on the Falcons.

Discuss.

Should be a really good game. I am looking forward to it and the commercials as well. Taco Bell has already released a teaser for Superbowl Sunday. This commercial has absolutely nothing to do with their food but the commercial is hilarious:

If I hear any more about Ray Lewis . . .

I'm just bitter because my Broncos and Redskins both got bounced!

Same here, but I learned a long time ago that the Monday hangover is the only sure thing on that list

The Ravens-Giants game in XXXV was such a snoozer and beatdown, it was not enjoyable for anyone outside of Baltimore.

I'd rather see a classic, like the Ravens-Broncos playoff game.

What's there to talk about, you and I know the Ravens are winning ;)
It's gonna be a great game either way, just glad to be in there.

How have you been enjoying this run my friend? I still remember us meeting at one of the games :)

It's been great. Oddly, last year I thought they were Super, and they nearly got there. This year I didn't think they would get past the 1st or 2nd round.

True story: Laying in bed on Sunday morning, I started thinking about the game. All of the sudden I was overwhelmed with a reassuring feeling that both Baltimore and San Francisco would win their games.

Super Bowl MVP: Ed Reed, 2 INT's

I agree with you. I thought last year was our year and it was down to the last play and it just didn't happen. This year has been an incredible surprise! I knew firing Cam was a good idea, should have happen last year ;)

A Ravens win and an Ed Reed Super Bowl MVP would be pretty awesome :)

But in all honesty even if we lose I am proud of the team

Go Ravens, hard not to root for them with all the Miami Hurricanes on that team.

Yeah, we heard he was a murderer or something......

Here are five common misconceptions about the murder case involving Ray Lewis:

1. Ray Lewis was involved in a murder – Ray Lewis was an eventual witness in a murder case. He was charged with the murder of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar along with his two companions Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting. The murder charges stemmed from a vicious fight in Atlanta streets following a Super Bowl Party in 2000. Eventually, the case ended with the defendants acquitted for reasons of self defense. In the eyes of the court, no murder took place.

2. Ray Lewis’ friends went to jail to protect him – This is in a lot of blogs and opinion pieces. It’s just not true. No one in this case went to jail.

3. Ray Lewis refused to testify against his friends in the murder trial – It’s the opposite. Ray Lewis started the trial at the table with Oakley and Sweeting. He flipped, pleading down to an obstruction of justice charge in exchange for testimony. Lewis was the state’s star witness. Some sources say the three men were no longer friends because of the alleged betrayal. Ironically, the only person to serve any sentence in this case at all was Lewis. Had he not flipped, he likely would have walked away with the same acquittal as the other defendants.

4. The murders were never solved – This is written a lot, along with something to the effect that no other suspects were ever arrested. It doesn’t seem to be in dispute that Oakley and Sweeting killed Baker and Lollar. The jury found that it was self defense after only a few hours of deliberation.

5. Ray Lewis is a murderer – Ray wasn’t involved in the fight that killed the two men. His companions were. Lewis wanted no part of the fight, but not for some moral or noble reason. He wanted to avoid the conflict because he was concerned it might hurt his NFL career. Throughout the process, Lewis seemed consumed with protecting his then burgeoning NFL superstar status. He made them promise silence in the limo afterward and lied to police the morning after. He flipped on his buddies to avoid scrutiny.

Now that the Falcons are out it makes the game less interesting for me. I hope its a tight game till the finish, thats all I care about.

Ill be on a cruise to the bahamas so Im sure I will be enjoying the game regardless.

We heard the story in Atlanta over and over during the trial. I take no sides but the reporting over past few weeks (like this article: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports...-2000/1566198/) seem to miss the point that Lewis has had no further problems like that night.

Super what? After my Texans got b slapped by the Patriots I could care less who wins. If I was a betting man I would put my money on the Ravens though.

Everyone believes what they want to believe, or what they heard in a 1- minute news snippet. It's wrong that a lot of people essentially think he is OJ. He simply didn't kill anyone. Yes, there were several groups of bad dudes and fights broke out. The police went after him because of his celebrity.

As hard as it is for me to say this...I am pulling for the Ravens because of Ray Lewis. I think he is one incredible player and incredible person off the field. I hope he goes out with a ring!! So this Steelers fan is pulling for the Ravens! Cheers,

PS. David this is the only time I will ever root for your Ravens!

You need to see Ray Lewis A Football Life....Incredible!

That was a good episode. I also liked the Bill Belichek one where the Ravens went in and bounced them for the first time at home. That game was on my DVR for a year.

Still waiting to beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs, though. That will be sweet. I was disappointed when they lost to Denver last year, and when they missed out this year.

Ravens beating the Broncos and the Patriots, both time they were underdog by 10 points,
They maybe destined but I still like the Niners -4!!!
